fiona apple - extraordinary machine
this one went kind of oddly. didnt like much at first, liked a little bit more every time i listened to it, but then one day the other shoe dropped and i totally soured on it. still like a couple tracks off it, though.
kate bush - aerial
its not quite fair to put this in here, because i flip momentarily that its self-indulgent garbage (a song about pi? are you frigin joking me?) and pure genius. right now, im leaning slightly more towards the latter.
andrew bird - the mysterious production of eggs
i tried, but its just not happenning. im very hit or miss with stuff like this.

new discs by old standards like beck, nin & garbage didn't do much for me.

off all the obner-hyped albums, ry cooder was my least favorite.

Yeah, Beck has 2 good tracks (E-Pro and GIrl) and the rest I can do without.

My pendulum has swung violently against Sufjan Stevens, and that Bloc Party record isn't holding up all that great either.

And while I certainly find The Go! Team cute and fun, I don't find anything extraordinary about it either.

13&god is currently my lowest-ranked album of all those, new or old, i've acquired this year.

[EDIT: nearly deleted it, but was just-redeemable-enough]

I've never been a huge fan of the guy, but "Guero" was (in my opinion) Beck's 2nd best album. It certainly blows jokey garbage like "Odelay" out of the water. Still, it's only a 2 and 1/2 star release.

Architecture in Helsinki

Finally traded it in a month ago. I gave it much of my time to no avail, just don't get it. I think i was somehow swindled by the Fork to pick this one up.

I don't understand why you would bother buying or downloading it if you think its his 2nd best album and still only 2.5 stars

I guess you could have been exposed to it through roommates or friends but I sometimes wonder whether and why people feel the need to hear things whether it seems likely that they'd enjoy it or not.

Haven't heard it myself as I'm not much of a Beck fan.

I enjoyed "Sea Change" so I figured I would give this one a try. It has some high points, but it's inconsistent. I give it 2 and 1/2 stars because, while it's Beck's 2nd best album, it's a big drop-off after his first good album.

I only downloaded it, so the investment was minimal. Sometimes I'll download things just as a goof, but I actually thought I might enjoy this one.

For better or worse, I don't think any neckbeards made it into my Top 10 this year.

Sorta joking/sorta serious....

Your opinions now never matter. Odelay is classic Beck.

Redwalls - de nova

It has all the elements that I usually look for in searhing out new bands. And I don't usually mind a retro-kinda sound. But this album just left me flat. Sounded like Black Crowes redux, which was Faces redux, which was Rolling Stones redux in the first place.

I do enjoy the songs individually, one at a time. But as a piece, it just kinda grates after a bit.

Bummer too, because I had high hopes.
