yeah put me in the Beck column, his worst album.
You obviously haven't heard his early stuff (pre-Odelay).

Me too. I just didn't seem to have the attention span any time I put it on. I haven't given up yet, but it hasn't grabbed me.

Oh man, when this hit...so sweet. I really wasn't digging it at first, but out of nowhere it grabbed a'hold.

Good to know. I'll try again today.

i liked the first song of the album but i think it's because it sounded so familiar for some reason.

Pretty much the same for me. It was a little muddled and messy to my ears at first, but then it kinda hit me all at once and I think its almost as good as YFIIP.

I'll agree with those who said there wasn't much from this year that interested me. The stand-outs to me were:

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm and Low - The Great Destroyer. I simply do not understand the love for these two albums.

Depeche Mode
NIN
Sigur Ros
Low
Deathcab for Cutie

Now i'm not saying these were bad albums I really liked at least two songs from each one (besides the horrible With Teeth) it's just I usually devour the whole album... but not this time. There's far worse out there, but I'm not dissapointed by those cause i don't like them in the first place.

I'm all for "fun" and "adventerous" music, but Beck (at least in the earlier days) all too often crossed over into annoying territory with his nonsense raps, goofy samples, and lazy delivery.

I don't know if you could ever convince me that he ever left that territory, despite his sad bastard Blood on the Tracks type records. Personally I like him there: nonsense, goofy, lazy are Beck staples. And let's not forget exagerrated falsettos a la Debra. It all sounds good to me.
