Which one is the overall best?

Which one has the most Wyle E Coyote cartoons?

Which one has the Bugs cartoon with the mad doctor who tries to exchange brains (my all time favortie Looney Tune)?

Which one has the most older cartoons?

So far I'm looking at the second edition but that's just cause the first doesn't impress me as much. How is the third edition?

My preferences lean heavily towards Wyle E and to the one offs that don't feature the regular crowd (especially the ones poking fun of real life... more often than not the older ones).

Please help!!!

the first is fucking transcendent.

the second I have not seen yet, but I think it has a whole disc's worth of roadrunner/coyote cartoons which is a horrid development in my view but I suppose you would like.

the third I only very recently found out about and from perusing the selection of cartoons may be almost as strong as the first. I believe it has a disc of Hollywood parodies like the second, but it also seems to have some more older cartoons (particularly in the Porky Pig disc).

the episode you were referencing ("Hot Cross Bunny") I don't believe has been released yet.

I've got them all and would probably tip towards the first one as being best; the second has almost an entire disc of Wile E. The third seems to have the most black and white.

I like them all, but lean towards the post-55 shorts as being my personal favourites. The black and whites while historically interesting don't really do anything for me.

My favourite might be 'The Apes of Wrath'.

they should really release all the awesomely racist, sexist, and innuendo-filled cartoons that I remember from my childhood that now dwell in the back of some WB vault. they could easily market such a collection to the 18-34 crowd.

I miss the ones where everyone smokes. I seem to recall those being played less and less as I got older.

question about these boxes: do they edit any of the cartoons or are they uncut?

Uncut as far as I can tell. There's one or two on the first box that have this obviously Dali-inspired psychedelic trip-out scenes. I don't remember those from my childhood.

PS Carl Stalling is a god. Probably the single most influential person, musically, from my childhood.

If he's a serious fan, you can't really do wrong. I've got all three and would only consider myself minorly disappointed by the inclusion of the historical black and whites.

It's worth the investment - for the cartoons and for the great DVD extras - but you should be able to find each volume for no more than $50 each.
