... my state senator. Nobody's perfect, but the man seems to be about as good as one can reasonably hope for from a functional state senator.

Quote:
But the Patriot Act's critics got a boost from a New York Times report saying Bush authorized the National Security Agency to monitor the international phone calls and international e-mails of hundreds -- perhaps thousands -- of people inside the United States. Previously, the NSA typically limited its domestic surveillance to foreign embassies and missions and obtained court orders for such investigations

"I don't want to hear again from the attorney general or anyone on this floor that this government has shown it can be trusted to use the power we give it with restraint and care," said Feingold, the only senator to vote against the Patriot Act in 2001.

Everything I see from this guy (except possibly his impending divorce, and even at that, shit happens) is qual. For a senator, this guy seems to be above-par.

If my representative (Sherrod Brown) defeats Mike DeWine in 2006, I too will be able to say that I have a great senator. :)

DeWine is just about the most worthless senator you can get.

I saw russ speak, introducing Kerry at the rally here downtown back last year. It just seems rare that somebody in that job title can seem that normal.

Dammit, where's Loog to confim / deny my love?

I really want him over trick pony Hackett in that primary, and Ted Strickland for governor.

And Cap -- its State's (junior or senior) Senator. Your state senator represents about 100K people in whatever area you live.

I like Feingold, have no desire for him to be the prez, though.

What keeps him from getting the nod, for you?

Shoulda seen the election last year... embarassing, the ass-clown the repubs put up against him. Some dough-faced, former military rich guy, owns a construction company, every ad was him with his family, all in turtlenecks. "I know how to run a successful business, and I know how to run this state" etc, like there's a 1:1 ratio there. "Oh, you know how to overcharge for plumbing jobs? Well, here's a senate seat. Be careful in there!" The debates were PRICELESS. Dude came to a gunfight with a slingshot.

He did, however, get some votes, and that depressed me more than words can say.

I think he is the type of guy that really does well as a Senator, keeps S-GRADE Uber-Libs like you happy, Patriot Act, campaign finance reform, etc...but he is a bit holier than though for my tastes, and form what I knw about most of these dirt bags it always shocks me when a dude like him or Wellstone even gets elected.

I agree; I like him for what he is but a guy like this as the Dem nominee for president=laughable.

I'd rather run Max Clealand's "made-for-a-South-Park-parody" remaining body parts.

Shame you guys feel that way. I've never voted for a Dem for dogcatcher even, but if Feingold had been the Dem candidate rather than Kerry I would have voted for him solely based on respect for his leadership on Patriot Act issues.

I think its probably a real, real fine line with people like us, Billy.

I don't vote for Repubs because I'm not in the "bombs and jesus" crowd even if we do get together on some issues.

While we're on the subject though, my vote is for sale in any election.

What do you normally vote?
