This is what makes it clear to me that you don't get my point at all. Good music is timeless. Saying something is "stuck" in a past time period is not an innocuous statement. Its a pejorative statement. It says that the music is dated and doesn't have much relevance anymore.

Husker Du, the big Replacements albums, Pixies "Doolittle" and "Surfer Rosa" , early Sonic Youth were all 80's. No one calls those albums "stuck" in the 1980's because they aren't. They are still very relevant today. I don't think Depeche Mode and New Order are relevant at all today.
