No, not you...them.

I'm having a horrible, horrible week. And it's only Tuesday. Things do get better, right? I mean, I've just heard Suede, Roxy Music and Lou Reed played in the same hour on the radio. Three favourite artists who have comforted me in the past. Will they make me feel better because I had to miss out on seeing Joseph Arthur last night due to work-related reasons? Dunno, but I sure could use being comfortably numb for awhile.

Old school- a lot from Van Morrison, but since I just picked up a remaster of Veedon Fleece today, "Comfort You" and "Fair Play".

More recent- from Ray Lamontagne's Trouble-"Hold You In My Arms"

Makes it better........

If you haven't heard this one, go find it. I've read comparisons to V. Morrison- very soulful voice. First listen may cause you to write it off as MOR schlock, but the songwriting is head and shoulders above that. Very, very nice music. Smoky, after-the-bars-closed-down-come-listen-to-me-tell-you-about-how-the-world-beats-on-you-and-me-but-you-still-gotta-wake-up-and-smile music. Highly recommended.

Oh, you want ACTUAL comfort music. I thought you meant commiseration music, which is slightly different.

I've used The Waterboys This Is The Sea for comfort purposes for many years. It's pretty hard to be grumpy when I'm listening to Mike Scott trill "your love feels like trumpets."

I knew this guy was coming into town soon. Just went to check the ticket availability situation and it's sold out. Dammit.

He sounds like someone I'd be into. Definitely gonna check him out. Thank you 10 Toes.

I have a rep elsewhere of offering a guarantee when I make a rec. Even not really knowing all that much about yr tastes, if you buy it and don't like it, I'll buy it from you. Period.

Aww, baby, thank you. I'll be okay...just not right now.

And, Ten, I trust you. I've liked the comments you've made on other music, plus totally dig bluesy sounding shit. Here's my recommendation for you, a local boy named Jim Biancowho has been getting a bit of recognition these days. Has that raspy Tom Waits sound to him yet his lyrics are a bit more on the light-hearted side.

Tindersticks!!!! Ohhhh yes! Shit, I thought I had one of their CDs here at work and I don't. However, I found Meat Beat Manifesto's RUOK? and I'm crankin' it up.

Damen, soooo looking forward to seeing you this weekend. I miss you. :(

You should listen to salsa. That's the best for Blue Moods.

Josh Rouse honey.

If you have some.

Not too depressing. It can be fun and uplifting. But just a bit melancholy to be comforting. ;)

Just thought I'd throw in that he happens to be one of my boss' pals. She's the one who turned me on to him.

Salsa? This latina can only stand so much of it. Maybe if it were mixed with some other type of sound.

I need to buy some Josh Rouse. Don't have any.

Meat Beat Manifesto is no longer workin' their charm.

Plan B: An old Konstantin mix...on cassette no less!...dated November 2002 (remember this one, Darrin?) A bit of drum 'n' bass is playing now.

Ok, I'm going home where I will begin to imbibe a bit of wine. It appears I have some catching up to do with the rest of you.
