Can someone recommend me one with a good range? Specifically, I mean one that's not a piece of shit toy that works about as far as the end of your block and breaks the first time I drop it.

I'm going on a trip to Europe next month and I want to get something that is good and reliable for under $100 if possible.

Prior experiences:

Radio Shack $19.99 ----> utter crap

Motorola Walkabout $59.99 -------> still piss poor

i've had luck with the older models of the walkabout, but I can't say I've used anyting of the sort in years.

get ones that require an FCC license. I've always wondered about the packages that have that sticker on them.

Actually I'm hoping that I can stay in contact with my travel mate while were in and around the same part of the city. Is this such a bad idea? I mean our cell phones won't work for shit over there.

So far all the ones that I've seen as the FCC licence thing. Doesn't mean they actually work though...
