Do you hear the talking heads when listening to clap your hands say yeah, or am i on crack?

I refuse to align myself with either one of those awful answers, but yeah the comparison gets made alot.

but i haven't listened to them very much.

i never thought of it until last week when i seemed to read about eight posts that all mentioned a comparison.

I heard it right away. But I've only listened to the CYHSY album once, so what do I know?

I was thinking about picking this up - Thanks for saving me some $$$$.
If the comparison is in fact true I'm quite certain I would hate it.

I think it's a lazy comparison to help qualify a crap band.

i think it's kind of a lazy comparison short of hearing anything else. (i also hear sponge.) but i don't consider them crap.

Just to clarify: despite my lack of admiration for anything I've heard from this band, I think that their music is so tame and so run-of-the-mill that people (or reviewers) latch onto the David Byrne comparison to somehow separate them from the bland pack. The music itself is very ordinary, but when you attach Talking Heads to it, it becomes much more interesting, at least on the surface.

Damn, that is It, 100%. Take boring music, then fuck up the singing a bit. Presto. I just don't get this band.

His vocal delivery is similar to Byrne's, though sloppier. I like the music.

To me, its just interesting how much exposure this band is getting. I was seriously surprised when I walked into Circuit City and saw a stack of their album, and that they were on at least one late night show.

I feel the hate boiling. Conor Oberst and Islands (nee The Unicorns, nee Th'Corn Gangg), you have a hate mate. I wish they would all tour together, get food poisoning, learn nothing from each other and then get real jobs or go into a more obscure medium of expression.
