[sic] usually means something along the lines of "as it appears" or "as it was written". Oftentimes it's a classy way of saying "this typo was there when i got it"

Main Entry: 3sic
Pronunciation: 'sik, 'sEk
Function: adverb
Etymology: Latin, so, thus -- more at SO
: intentionally so written -- used after a printed word or passage to indicate that it is intended exactly as printed or to indicate that it exactly reproduces an original <said he seed [sic] it all>

I've always wondered, yet never looked it up.

I like you less every time you use that word.

Just sayin'. Don't stop on my account.

is hella a california thing or a stoner thing or both? My little sister (21yrold) consistantly injects this word into every sentence.
I get to see my sister on Sunday, when the family arrives. Should be interesting to see her, she started her dreads 1.5 years ago when she was here for the summer, so I'm hoping to snatch an old cheez doodle or a pocket poodle from her locks. irie man.

There are VERY few Californians that I know of who use "hella". I first heard it from my cousins in Texas. Truthfully, I always thought it was a Southwest or Southern thing.

As said earlier in the thread "hella" is bay area invention... and I suspect East Baay at that (in fact my money is on Livermore, two bikers on crank, July 1986). Being a Southern Californian who regularly visited NorCal... I started noticing "hella" when I was in the Bay Area in the early 90's. It seemed kinda stoneresque... but normal (relatively) people whould use it. I moved to NorCal in the mid-90's in spite of this linguistic abomination.
