So the 'rents for Christmas gave me $200 to get some new threads, and I need help from Obnerians. I'm trying to get a nice coat (somewhat heavy but not overly so and not a long coat; I live in Nashville) and about 3 pairs of jeans. So: good places online (besides the Gap, AE, etc.) that would fit my budget? Anyone? Bueller?

Hmmmm..... Avoid all of Nashville's shitty boutiques, they're overpriced. I say take your fucked-up car and drive out to Opry Mills. It's about 20min. outside of town. They have a decent mix of factory outlet stores where you can get nice stuff for cheap. I wouldn't go today, it'll be more of a madhouse than normal, unless you don't care about that kind of thing, and you could probably get a ton of clothes that are on-sale.

You could always hit Target too, but I'm not sure how long those clothes would last you (quality?).

target's clothes aren't really a bad quality.

they have some pretty awesome striped sweaters (earthy colors) for guys right now. i saw some cords too.

i mean, i don't know what your style is or anything.....but i'd vote target.

Yeah, the outlet mall route is probably a good bet for you. You should be able to get a good wool coat on sale at the Gap or Gap Outlet or somewhere similiar for relatively cheap.

Jeans are very much a personal thing but again, the outlet mall and post Christmas sales should be a good bet for a man with some money in his pocket.

Buy a new belt while you're out, too. You probably need one.

I got one of those earthy (brown with stripes) sweaters from Target for Xmas.

Pretty cool, though I picked it out, tried it on and then called my mom with the 411.

Also got a pretty sweet 3-Button black blazer (just for kickin it with jeans--nothing special) from there that was only like 55 bucks.

Appreciate the input, y'all, I guess I'll head out to Opry Mills. Not until my car's fixed, tho. Insurance company is buying me a nicer CD player than I had in the first place, bonus. 8)

DON'T, I mean DON'T buy a "good" coat on-line. Is this going to be a dress coat, i.e. worn with a suit? You've got to try these things on, with a suit, or at least with slacks, to see the fit and style. It took me about three months to find a dress coat.

What's the name of the clothing brand that Bono started recently?

Don't be surprised if I send you a holiday gift card next year for Wankers.

I don't think Wankers recognizes Christmas. They celebrate Bonomas. You cannot send Wankers gift cards. You can only donate to Wankers Charities, Inc. in a recipient's name. The money goes to provide Wankers branded anoraks to hippies in life-rafts trying to intercept whaling harpoons.
