Rondo music has good cheap guitars. You can get one with a set neck for $150

The idea with both of these is that you're not getting an ornament for the apartment, but rather something decent to play

Godin Radiators are remarkably good guitars for the price. I think they look cool, some people, not so into them.

I don't necessarily want to spend only $100, nor do I necessarily need an electric guitar right now, so I guess I'll pass.

Lotus = that guitar your parents buy you to shut you up when you're 12. The blue/green color woulda been cooler than black.
