I am regularly horrified at the outrageous lack of gratitude from these spoiled rotten kids that get parties for their sixteenth birthday that cost 200,000 dollars and upward.

My parents are not poor, by any means, and I received a lot of things as a child--but at least my parents instilled a work ethic and a lack of dependency on ridiculous unneccessary materials.

I have never seen kids more rude, disrespectful, and ungrateful than the kids on this show. I honestly cannot believe that parents would actually treat their kids that way. It should be considered child abuse. haha.

anyone seen this show? I don't know if I have posted about his before, but I just saw another one of these episodes today and couldn't resist writing about it.

I have seen this show. It's like staring at a really bad car wreck; I sit there in disbelief the entire time. And I have resist the urge to slap some of these kids, they are so spoiled rotten. Did you see the one where the girl went shopping for a dress in Paris and whined the whole time? And then snuck out of the house and whined when her mother cancelled the credit card? And then had a temper tanrum at the dinner table in some fancy restaurant because her dad said that since she had been misbehaving he wasn't going to buy her a Land Rover? (But then he did anyway, of course).

yes. I saw this one. It was absolutely ridiculous. At the end, the dad was like, "well, all in all, this party cost me about 300,000 dollars. But it was worth it. She's my daughter, and I love her". My jaw was dropped for about 45 minutes afterward.

I can't remember her name, but she was like, "if dad doesn't get me a car for my birthday then I am never talking to him again".

Edit: I was talking to my father about this and he said that to a billionaire spending 200 grand is, mathematically, like a person with one million dollars spending like 200 dollars on their kids birthday. So, i guess 200 thousand is not that much...however, 200 grand buys a lot more than 200 bucks.

When see girls wearing them I feel like giving them a slap.

They should only be sold as part of a set, the other shirt reading "You better not ever get fat..." on the front, and "... and your neck better not ever get tired."on the back.

MTV is disgusting. Practically every show on it now, from Cribs to My Super Sweet 16 to Laguna Beach, just glorifies crass commercialism and being as superficial as possible.

the one that bothered me the most was the orphan who had been living with her foster family for a year and within that ONE year she became the biggest bitch in the universe.
i can't believe someone who was an orphan most of her life and lived in a shitty house with roaches before she was taken in by the rich family could be such a spoiled brat. i can't grasp how people can become so ungrateful and become so selfish in such a short span of time and especially with the history she has behind her.
i hope they put her back in foster care and she learns her lesson.

that show is horrendous. i remember a time when mtv at least pretended like they were alligned with the outcasts. i'm worried about my little cousins who are in mtv's target audience. between this, paris hilton, et. al., i don't see how they won't be left with the impression that it's the height of cool to be a spoiled, vapid, materialistic bitch.

You know, nobody is forcing you to watch Mtv.

In fact, you could get rid of cable TV altogether like we did a few years ago. Other than a few stations I haven't missed it at all.

I try to stay away from these kinds of shows. Have far too many memories of the suckitude of childhood poverty to have any patience with these pampered ungrateful twerps and their stupid-ass ineffective parents.

Not to be the voice of reletivism, but there's probably kids that would consider us spoiled.

Some Ethiopian kid who had a bread crust as his only meal for the day would probably look at you the same way if he caught you bitching to a message board about how some eBay seller sneaked you a clean version of a Ween album

do you think you can have a birthday shot for the television show if youre not rich? im going to put in an application or whatever, and show people how a real party is thrown.

i'll have a few friends over, we'll play original nintendo, we'll listen to tom waits since he can't physically be there, and we'll have some chips and soda.. and they'll buy me cigarettes and lottery tickets. not that i'll smoke the cigarettes though.

Completely get sucked into shows like this. Worst part is, I am actually completely horrified by the fact that I am watching it. In America (can't speak for other regions), we have this growing plague of celebrity infatuation. It is getting out of control. I'm not talking paparrazzi, I talking the fact you probably know Gwyneth Paltrow's baby's name (Apple). Thats sick. Unfortunately, MTV and VH1 have co-opted this market to turn marginal celebwannabes into stars, and making kids into brain wasteland. The other thing that gets me, and while I understand, I cannot/won't condone--on shows like real world/reality tv, they edit to make the story more interesting. This sweet 16 show is crazy about it. I really think the editor's intentionally edit to make these girls look conceited (whether they are or not remains to be seen throughly), but it makes for completely useless tv. Oxymoron there folks.
