Metal shop is skills I wish I had. I would love to learn to weld, but that's time and money I ain't got.

It's actually not bad if you do it as a hobby, but 8 hours a day, 5+ days a week is overkill.

edit: I just got a call from my other boss saying the computers are fried, so I need to spend Thursday and Friday fixing everything. Hurray for technology!

Actually you know what sucks? I thought I had off today, and went in last night to grab mail, etc and looked at the schedule, and the way my boss wrote it, it looked like I didn't. So, this morning I woke up and went to work, except when I got there, everyone looked at me weird. Then I talked to a friend and they were like, "no, you have off." I ended up sitting around all day being a lazy ass. Back to work tomorrow though.

I called in sick today, too, but only threw up 2 times instead of 15+!

Try working @ a newspaper when NOT A GODDAMN THING is happening anywhere.
I did 18 inches yesterday on construction and paving of 1 mile of road. It's bad.

Our A section (main news and local news) was 6 pages today, including 3 pages of obits. Only excitement is that the photo editor and a community edition editor got into a total shouting match 5 feet from my desk.

But yeah, next week can't come fast enough.

FWIW, I'm kinda glad that's the case. Filling a 10-12 page local section these days would be impossible. Right now it's a steady diet of "2005 Newsmaker" updates, stories of the year, holiday wishlist features and the like.

The Sunday section I'm in charge of has one (full-page) ad for the whole 4 page section this Sunday. Ridiculous. We're normally 40-45% ads. Don't get me started on the people who "work" in that department. There are weeks when I inadverently bring in more new local ads than they do. And that's so not supposed to be part of my job.

i'm on winter break but only for a few more days. i've been baking an awful lot. i've baked sugar cookies, iced sugar cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cup cookies, chocolate chip butterscotch cookies, sprinkle sugar cookies, plain sugar cookies, french toast atleast 3 days out of the past 5, and marble swirled brownies. the brownies were the best.
i've made caesar salads but those are so simple they don't count.
this week has been slow but nice. also too fast, i don't feel like going to school and worrying about grades again.

ha ha. all newspapers have such a weird vibe between the advertising dept. and the newsroom.

interesting.
