The Turtles - "Happy Together"
Steppenwolf - "Born To Be Wild"

Sidenote:
There's some commercial floating around the television circuit now with a huge ripoff of Sonic Youth in it. I can't even remember what the product is. It just incites me every time I see it.

that Kasabian single has worked its way into more commericals/tv show promos/etc lately than I would like to remember.

Blessedly, I haven't heard this as much lately, but it would be my vote for sure. I miss having a PVR to fast forward through commercials.

Yet no matter how often they run it, it hasn't ruined the song yet. It's unkillable.

'Lust For Life' is an excellent selection. I forgot how much I hear that song everywhere.

I was also thinking that James Brown "I feel good" song is used a ton too.

This is the very first song that came to mind.

david bowie/queen - "under pressure"

mtv uses the opening to postal service's "such great heights" whenever something serious is addressed in its reality shows or in commercials for them.

on a side note, that song which i learned tonight is in fact, a mooney suzuki song, from a current subaru commercial is quite possibly the worst thing i have ever heard. they performed it on espn's new year's spectacle tonight. you probably don't know what i'm talking about but if you do, you can't possibly disagree.

"Express Yourself" has popped up in Guess Who (the Bernic Mac/Ashton Kutcher re-make joint), Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (where Steve Martin becomes the only New Yorker contributor to have appeared in two films with Hillary Duff (Sy Hersh does have an uncredited appearance in The Lizzie McGuire Movie)), and there's at least one more.

The song to which Sarah Jessica Parker dances in the bar in The Family Stone plays over the end-credits of Yours, Mine, and Ours.

And, though it's only in one movie, I can't get over Belle and Sebastian allowing "If she wants me" to be used in The Ringer. I find that quite jarring... The film is an abomination; the song is tender-throated caressing. The two should not have mixed.

And don't think for a moment that Iggy doesn't know it.

The Ghostbusters theme song is used in about half of the car commercials around here. They basically replace the word "Ghostbusters" with the car dealership's name.

I loved it when I'd see the trailer for a new action "western" and that damn click click boom song would be playing.

You could start a entire thread about "misunderstood/misused" songs.
