from the Ottobar's website

Quote:

"Underground" welcomes the return of PETER HOOK of New Order/Joy Division
(DJ set, 11pm-1:30am) w/ Two If By Sea, & The Heavycoats.
Doors at 8pm. $1 drinks, drafts, & Natty Boh's til 9pm! Ages 18+

Is it really Peter Hook? It seems so hidden on the schedule page. Hrm. I want to go if it really is him. I should call the Ottobar. I went to the NO/JD site and no touring info was given for him. Plus, upstairs (where he would be) is *free*. WTF?

Well, it does say "of New Order/Joy Division."

Yes....

but 1)why would it be free
2)Peter Hook is a big name (well to me) so why isn't this more publicized
3)sarcasm will get you nowhere with me babycakes.

Who's being sarcastic? I was restating the facts, which leads me to believe that it is him. He's done some small-scale DJ gigs here in Chicago, so I don't see why he can't appear at this "Ottobar" place.

I'll let you know when I'm being sarcastic, because your sarcas-o-meter needs to be recalibrated.

Edit: It's free because it's free - who knows? I certainly wouldn't pay to see anyone spin records, but that's just me.

If its Peter Hook I would pay. But since its seemingly free, then even more the better. It just seems like they are using him to sell drinks, which imo, is just utterly unbelievable.

Has the bar website had phony listings in the past? If not, it's probably "PETER HOOK of New Order/Joy Division."

He's DJ'ing across the US. I know that he's opening for The Editors in a couple of weeks in San Diego.

Looks like you are in the minority. I'm guessing a lot of people don't know who he is, so thus they wouldn't pay to see him DJ.

Frankly, I've not heard good things about Pete's DJ'ing skills. I really don't care, it'll still be cool to see him.

he's done some gigs in chicago with friends of mine. andy rourke, from some other british band, has done the same gig. i never go, but i suppose it's cool for people who are big fans because they take records and pictures to be signed. and the places where peter hook's dj'd in chicago are smaller than ottobar.

Some other british band = The Smiths

I hear Paul McCartney from some other british band had a new album in 2005.

np: The Go Betweens "16 Lovers Lane"
