prediction: none of us will be able to come to a concensus on the best album of 2006 and most will deride the mags' picks.

In October, Television will re-unite for a farewell show at CBGB's. The concert will be recorded for a CD/DVD release titled "Kicking Wilco."

Bloggers around the world will alert us to more crappy mash-ups, including:
"My Lumps" - Black Eyed Peas/Presidents of the United States of America
"Clap Your Hands Say What?" - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah/Lil Jon/Dave Chappelle

Pitchfork expands their media empire to tv with the reality show, "America's Most Prolific Songwriter." Season One pits Ryan Adams versus Robert Pollard. For 8 weeks, Adams and Pollard will write and record an album a week. After the season finale, a 28 disc box set will be released.

Be Your Own Pet? ugh. Infinity Cat side project Jeff is better.
and Test Icicles.... do we REALLY need another dance-punk band?

Pitchforkmedia will review a record that will send the music buying/downloading public into an Arcade Fire-esque frenzy.

With a name like The Farknut Experiment or something. Or maybe Jump In Pan, The Gas Is Coming Up Quickly.

and they'll be from some Canadian city.

There are only so many Canadian cities.

Lessee, there's Winterpeg and Torontsnow and Vanshooveler and Mudtreal. What'd I miss?

native new yorkers begin a mass exodus towards the midwest. fearing ethnicification, hipsters move back home to make their cities cool again.

dance-folk replaces dance-rock/punk.

obner will be featured on rolling stone magazine as the music website of record. lurker readership goes up as do postings about non-music related threads.

i finally graduate from "street teamer" status.

I've already heard/read a ton about these two. I assumed they had already broken big.

Also, Bolly Corgan will announce dates for the Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour. Unfortunately, the lineup will only include himself, Chamberlin, and some new guys. They'll receive shit reviews and he'll still claim to be the king of alternative rock.
