At least Arcade Fire wasn't #1.

interesting list. I do think the BR inclusion is questionable, while Animal Collective and Madvillain are way too low. and I still don't like Shake the Sheets.

i don't own a single album on that list.

how's that for being indie?

as friends and fellow local musicians? sure. will i buy "mistakes" when it comes out? no, probably not.

that being said, they are very good at what they do - combining harder rock, electro, and "emo" elements (by way of the Cure, not Dashboard) - and their live shows can be a lot of fun. i don't think Interpol delivered on the same level of quality and ability as Turn On and i've never seen them live, so i can't comment on their live presentation. the new Information record has a sense of urgency, whereas album #2 from Interpol tends towards painting by numbers.

I meant as a band, not as friends. I know you love that little guy and that "blonde" girl.

I should learn names. Might help if I talked to them.

Thanks for the pdf. I think this is a pretty good list for a collective effort.

No Franz Ferdinand are just sour grapes as it’s on everyone’s list. Modest Mouse, Interpol and PJ Harvey are not top 40 material but get in because of what they have done in the past. But it takes balls not to put Wilco on the list as that was patchy as well, IMO. Nice job on Adem as this is the first place it has shown up nationally.

Overall a good list and something I would expect from CMJ. No Fiery Furnaces, Drive By Trucks, or Junior Boys is interesting. No UK bands only solo like Adem and Nick Cave? Maybe you need some new blood. ;)
