I love my job, even if it's very stressful right now. Being that I never completed my degree, I've been given a great opportunity to prove my worth. Five years ago, I was making $17K more than I'm making now -- due to being laid off twice, I've had to suffer drastic cuts in pay. But, I'd rather be employed than not.

I love my job, even though I'm still in baby-step mode on my own.

I did get a two pound box of candy from a client today. Someone call an ambulance.

I much prefer 'leisure' to 'work'. Therefore 'work' always seems pretty damn crappy because it means at that exact point in time I have no 'leisure'.

No, but it pays the bills. I do operations & tech management/support for an environmental nonprofit. It's not that I hate it - I work with nice people, my boss just took me out to lunch to tell me how much she appreciates me - all things considered, it's pretty good. But I'd rather be making a living doing something more creative, making something. Not sure what. I worry because I'm 33 & I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up. Most of my friends actually love their jobs, which kills my theory that work is what you do to pay for the stuff you want to do outside of work. Apparently they leap out of bed in the morning excited to go contribute. I try not to be too jealous.

i'm really content here.

I was curious what Stu was going to say. We work for the same company, but I am in LA, not Nashville. No country music for me, which makes being an office bitch more bearable. Pay is entry level indeed, but the opportunity to get a good start in the music business is definitely there. I'm certainly on the path I want to be on.

I went with Yes, but don't make shit.

I chose "I'm looking for a new career" because technically, I should be. I wasn't having much luck with organic chemistry, so I decided to take a year off from school (yes, with just three credits between me and graduation) so now at the new year, I will be full-time at the truck stop. I never really considered "career waitress" as my life's dream, so I know I should be finishing my degree and getting a real job. However, I make about $11 an hour (on a slow night) and I'm really comfortable in my horrid job. Everyone knows who I am, I know what everyone eats, I know who the assholes are that I shove on to the other waitress (when I have help). The other night I worked my butt off, but I made about $23 an hour. That's really not awful, but I'm sure some day I'll find a job where at least SOMEONE respects me. As long as clothing stores give me credit cards that I don't really have to pay off, I can survive on what I'm making right now. So, I too would have preferred a "meh" vote on this one. At least I have some interesting stories.

I'm fairly satisfied right now, but can definitely see myself wanting to move on in the next 2 or 3 years. Hopefully the "moving on" will just be to another department, because I genuinely like the company I work for (despite some questionable business practices that have us under the media microscope right now). I get paid time and 1/2 for overtime, so I take advantage of that whenever possible. Tuition reimbursement for grad school is nice, too, although I only have 2 classes left.

This is something I have been wrestling with since I got out of school. I like my job, the people are cool, it pays the bills, and I believe in what I do, but I feel really limited in the direction I can go. It seems the only option that may get me to the next plateau would be to go for my PHD and I don't know if I can handle that much more debt.
