I just saw Me And You And Everyone We Know and liked it. I kind of want to see some more indier type movies like that.

But the problem is that my local video store probably won't provide much help there. And I hate paying $5 a movie anyway. Lately I've just been renting them from the library for $1 a piece.

Anyway, some of my favorite movies are 'Ghost World', 'Rushmore', and 'Amelie' so I'm looking for movies similar to that, I guess.

Dr. Strangelove
Everything Is Illuminated
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless is mind is one of my favorite movies of the past 5 years and from the sounds of it, you'd probably like Igby Goes Down

Check 'em out at IMDB

Blue Milk and I watched Happiness last Sunday night. I liked it an awful lot.
The last movie we saw in theatres was The Squid and the Whale. That was good as well.

This is a topic for my boyfriend.

I really want to see Luis Buñuel's L'Age D'or. He worked with Dali on it in the beginning but due to some disagreement, or something, they discontinued the collaboration but the film is still set in a surrealistic Dali-esque manner even though their cooperative effort fell through. I would like to hear from some of you who have seen this, because I think the only way I will be able to see it is to purchase it. So is it worth it? Not meaning to take over your thread.

Strangelove is sitting on my shelf right now. I got it from the library this afternoon. I actually saw it a few years ago, didn't like it much, but it's supposed to be a classic and hilarious, so I'm giving it another chance.

Eternal Sunshine I love. Igby Goes Down I liked. Everything Is Illuminated will be added to my list based on that.

I like 'Storytelling' so Happiness is on my list because of that. But I haven't been able to find it around whenever I've looked.

'Squid And The Whale' is on my list too because of Baumbach's addition to 'The Life Aquatic' and I saw the one actor on Letterman or something a few months ago. Unfortunately I don't see movies in theatres so I won't be seeing that for a long while still.

I remember that being a good film, although it had some semi-creepy scenes involving that one kid.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a lot of films that are similar. I do agree that Igby Goes Down is a great film.

I haven't seen a single thing about this movie that makes me think I would like it.

I liked the Adam Sandler films back in the day but I was also fifteen or sixteen then. 'Wedding Crashers' just looks like more Old School/Dodgeball/American Pie fare.

I thought Happiness was just pretentious wankery--sometimes literally. For example, the scene where the dad buys a copy of Teen Beat and jerks off in his back seat to JTT or somebody: it's just retarded.

It's not as good as Un Chien Andalu, and I wouldn't pay $20 to buy it just to see it. There's got to be somewhere you can rent it from. I like a lot more of Bunuel's later stuff better than this one.

RD sounds interesting. I don't know about the other two. I'd have to see a trailer to decide.

I might spend tomorrow looking up movie trailers online.

I know what you mean. I thought it wouldn't be very funny until I saw it. It has a lot of funny scenes.

I've never been a fan of any Sandler movies.

I've watched it almost twice all the way through since I bought it yesterday. Not a bad film at all.

Also, I recommend THE LONELINESS OF THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER

You presumably are a Belle and Sebastian fan, so you can get their reference. Unless you get it already.

Added, based simply on the reference. I'm a sucker when it comes to things like that.

Also, does anyone know if there's a Canadian alternative to netflix? I raised the question here a few months ago I think, and there wasn't. I don't know if any have come into existence since. And I wouldn't know how to go about searching for something like that.

movies for me

zip.ca

here's some trailers for the twilight samurai

i liked wedding crashers but didn't think it was nearly as funny as the 40 year old virgin.

if you can get past the first 45 minutes of audition, you're in for a treat.

This suggestion might be obvious, but no discussion about movies should leave out The Big Lebowski.
