if you had three minutes, could you talk about wanting a high life that entire time? you can repeat yourself and everything, but could you? i need a track of that, too.

I thought you said "listenable."

i did, it'll be in the background.

I've got about 2, maybe 3 seconds' worth... "I wish I had a highlife." That about says it all.

it was a typo I couldn't refuse.

Speaking of the High Life, the other day my girlfriend turns abruptly to me and asked "Do you drink high life because of Do the Right Thing?" Then I went and rewatched the movie and realized she's probably dead on.

no, I'm not an exlusive HL drinker by any means, but when I go to my local bar, they open one before I order, so it's like that. I pretty much go between really nice beer, High Life, and the occasional Yuengling/Iron City for nostaliga.

tonight I'm gonna try to pick, up something nice though.

another vote for SM 57/58's. I'm gonna have to probly stray from conventional wisdom here and say that the 58 is actually a more diversified mic (read: i actually like it more than an SM57 in a recording setting but thats just me)

And if you can afford to bring in the Cap'n, I am an excellent bass player who will pay his own airfare. Otherwise, I am horribly mediocre.

Also, if you are at all serious about recording, I might can hook you up with a couple of fairly decent condenser mics either for loan or purchase.

Most soundcards can't handle a real microphone input (sounds dirty, isn't), so you need to get one of those things that has a microphone preamp built into it, like this or this, too (FYI -- never heard of the first one before -- buyer beware).

I'm also a big fan of Shures, but get this -- way back when, when i got my first mic, I got a Shure SM58 clone. I think it's called the Shure Prelude. Awesome mic. Still have it, still one of my favourites for vocals. Doubt it's "shiny" enough for guitar, though (mine, anyway). Audio Technica also make good microphones.

Here is a search for microphones on the ZZounds page, starting with the cheapest.

I think the shures are boring (esp for vocals).. but what do I know since I pretty much just made that option up now.. does no one like the AKG 2000CB? I think it works pretty well..but then again, its more than twice the 57.

check out bswusa.com..

EDIT: late to the party again, I see

Katie - I am very interested to hear how those sound. I fear the "retro" look, thinking it may be just so-so inside. But they do look cool.
