Also, I'll bet you can find houses there for less than Seattle. Scratch that, I KNOW you can. And the beers here are just phenominal. Awesome, man.

if you're looking for cheap housing, let me know -- i have a friend who can't afford anything but cheap housing, so he could give me good tips.

btw: <= born in milwaukee

Congratulations! I've never been, but a friend just moved there and I'd like to visit her sometime this year.

i've never been to wisconsin, but based on the boarders here and the "real-life" people i know from wisconsin...seems like it's one of the friendliest states out there.

just don't pick up that awful accent while you're there.

Congrats on the promotion! I've never been to Milwaukee so I can't offer input on whether it will be cool or not. It is close to Chicago though, right, so that can't be all bad.

Thanks all. I did indeed get the job and have already started my search for an apartment. Looking at the Boston apartments right now but may need to find rent a little cheaper. I'm putting my house on the market here and should be there no later than 17 Feb.

It was good to hear from you mojo...it's been awhile. I'll definitely be visiting lots of brew pubs while i'm there and may need some advice on some good beer stores.

I'll work right next door to Miller Park and will have free parking.

This is probably my last time on the board until i get settled in Milwaukee. Hopefully there isn't too much snow on the way so the drive with 3 cats is a little bit smoother.

It's snowing, right now -- big, fluffly flakes (note: not alliterative). They seem to be sticking, too.

This has nothing to do with anything, but this reminded me of something a friend said in middle school.

Teacher : "Oh, the snow is accumulating."
Friend : "Yeah and it's sticking too!"

Pardon the interruption. Carry on.

There's a good 4 inches on the ground here. "Settle down, kitties!"

I finally made it to Milwaukee on Saturday after getting hit by a semi-truck last tuesday and having my 2005 chevy trailblazer totalled. We're all ok but homeless and carless in a new city. Yeah. Hopefully we'll get an apartment soon..(library Hill apts????) and a vehicle in the next week or so.

I hate Nebraska.

I know some people who live there(Library Hill), it's a good spot...a little pricey, but a cool area to live.

I would definitely be interested in that. I didn't realize they were playing (sold out i take it?). My fiancee and I will need to get out a relax a little bit after this fiasco.

I also need to find a good/great beer store to start sampling lots of the midwest stuff.

And a good record store.

Thanks all. Hopefully i'll be moved in this weekend and get my household goods in week or so to get my computer.

i have no idea what the status of the belle & sebastian show is. i know at least five people from chicago going to the milwaukee show because the one here sold out very quickly. i'm looking forward to it.

As well, there's Gilbert's Liquor around the corner (from Atomic).

Since I live on the west-side, though, I favor Ray's, on North Ave.
