Shit, I'm a diehard Brit Pop fan and even I don't agree with those lists.

The list is pretty bad until you see Q’s top 50, possibility the worst list I have ever seen. At least NME has stuff like Sufjan Stevens and Devendra Banhart on their list:

I know most don’t care for me bring up NME. I know the history of the magazine (on Wikidepia and is quite a story) and it’s still relevant. I agree that it’s a horrible publication these days and only use it for the news section on the web. Fastnbulbous actually brought up this story to me again today and so I thought I would follow up since it still is about music. The Guardian and NME have both gotten involved over this web site article that I posted a few days back.

Bump one last time, the guy Momus (yes from the band of the same name) got a hold of the actually NME Writers' Poll and posted it on his blog. Mumus, who is a regular poster on ILM wrote this: "Unfortunately, the editor of my blog has tampered quite significantly with the list, and what's more the NME's lawyers have been in touch to say that any attempt to reveal the actual music tastes of NME's writers will result in a lawsuit from the NME." I find this kind of stuff absolutely fascinating.

Bottom line: Don’t fuck with NME!

Just a guess, but I don't think Momus was being serious.

PS Momus is an artist, not a band.

Well don't go inflating his ego any more than it need be...:) I saw that on his livejournal this morning and thought it was pretty funny.

And as south pacific probably expects, I agree with a lot of the Momus list.

I know there's lots of hate for this album, I actually didn't know they were thought of so highly. Around the Ob, I've seen nothing but vitriol for Employment. I don't see it actually, personally it's kind of mystifying why so many people don't like them, yet like The Futureheads for instance. Overall, it's catchy, upbeat Brit-pop, kind of like The Jam/Buzzcocks at times. 'You Can Have It All' is one of my favourite tracks of the year, too.

yea, I couldn't agree more DJ...this album is a lot of fun...The Modern Way is greatness...I don't get the hate either
