Am I fucking insane or did there not used to be a chain of Denny's style restaurants called Sambo's?

How the fuck did they get away with that?

Were they as good as Perkins?

Never went to Perkins. I guess the irony is that Denny's got hit with charges of racism and not Sambo's.

Also, if I was black--I would never go in Cracker Barrel. Not that I go there anyways, but still.

I drive by the Denny's at the center of the racism controversy about once a week.

so no truth to the rumor that Wal Mart has altered movies like "Do The Right Thing" to include commentaries of old Jimmy The Greek and Howard Cosell outtakes?

also, people performing "Mammy"

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: Yail Bloor is consistently the funniest dude I know.

I laughed so hard I almost fell out of bed at this.

there's a Jungle Fever joke in here that I will for Bloor, as I'm too tired to think.

Heh. I've never been in a Cracker Barrel, and I have no desire to, even though there's tons of them in VA...

Denny's is ok, though the last two times I was there I was stared down by a bunch of queens, had a fat person chase after my date's car and was told by some drunk dude (quite loudly) that I was going to shoot up a school or something.

Perkins is regional, midwest I think. Think Denny's, but no buffet, and more fried skillets of shit.

I don't know about midwest, but Perkins is all over Tennesse. I've never actually been inside one, though.

Finally, a muh'fucka' gets it correct. Lil' Black Sambo, of nursery rhyme fame, was Indian (dot, not feather), not African. And, it should have been axiomatic - there are no tigers in the wild in Africa (I'm sure that zoos there might feature tigers). But, people are crazy, and can't figure that out, nor can they figure out that Africans are not the only dark, i.e. black, people in the world. But, hell, Vijay Singh is darker than Morgan Freeman....

Wait, tigers are a race now? Is it ok to have a stuffed bear?

Not if it's a black bear (Euarctos or Ursus americanus).

I wish Cracker Barrel was here in CA. Crackers might not be fast enough to play good defence but man can they make some pancakes
