Good, start getting rid of these assholes. Not that it will really change all that much. Virginia Tech QB Coach Kevin Rogers is an old friend of the family from when he coached at Navy, before he went to Syracuse and later coached Donovan McNabb. All-around good guy. Sure, I'd probably preferred it if he had benched him on the spot, but I still think he's good people.

Hokies end ties with troubled QB Vick

ESPN.com news services
RICHMOND, Va.
-- The president of Virginia Tech said Friday that quarterback Marcus Vick has been permanently dismissed from the football team.

University president Charles Steger announced the dismissal on the same day that coach Frank Beamer met with Vick and his mother in their Hampton Roads home, the school said. Beamer informed them of the decision during the meeting.

The junior quarterback stomped on Elvis Dumervil's leg after the Louisville defensive end tackled Vick on Monday during the first half of the Toyota Gator Bowl.

He also faces charges of speeding and driving on a suspended driver's license, Cpl. James West said Friday. Police stopped Vick in Hampton on Dec. 17, and he was charged with driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone, the police spokesman said.

Virginia Tech had suspended him for all of the 2004 season because of legal troubles. At the time, Steger said if Vick faced additional off-field troubles, "his Virginia Tech career is effectively ended."

Vick was not penalized for the Dumervil incident but was rebuked at halftime of the Gator Bowl by quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers, who said he even considered pulling Vick from the lineup.

Vick said later it was "an accidental play, and football is football." He also said he had apologized to Dumervil. Dumervil said no apology had been offered.

"A no-character individual," Dumervil said after the game.

Marcus Vick, eluding a Louisville defender in the Gator Bowl, stepped on the leg of another Cardinal player who tackled him in the first half.

Vick threw two touchdown passes and led a 22-point, fourth-quarter rally for the No. 12 Hokies, who beat the No. 15 Cardinals 35-24.

Rogers, who has mentored Vick in his on-field and off-field behavior, was livid with his quarterback, chewing him out at halftime, and after the game.

"There's no reason for that in the game," Rogers said. "It's flat-out embarrassing. I don't coach that way, and I don't expect him to play that way."

The incident is the latest trouble for Vick since he elected to follow his brother, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, to Virginia Tech. The elder Vick led the Hokies to the 1999 national championship game and was the first pick of the 2001 draft.

Marcus Vick played in 11 games as a backup in his freshman year, then was suspended from school last season after he was arrested, along with teammates Mike Imoh and Brenden Hill, for giving alcohol to 14- and 15-year-old girls. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge.

The younger Vick also later pleaded guilty to reckless driving and no contest to marijuana possession after a police stop in July 2004.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I fully applaud VaTech. For the leyman, it's nice to see disciplinary action against punks like Clarett and Vick and Mexico (herpes). They're not untouchable, they're not 'warriors'. They thugs. And not very good ones, obviously.

He shouldn't have been allowed to play in the Gator Bowl--wasn't he suspended from the school at the time?

But you didn't. So don't expect a pat on the back now for this. The funniest part of it is right before Marcus did that they had just gotten done interviewing Michael. If they had waited 1 more segment

He probably got frustrated trying to decipher one of the longer words, like "address" or "experience".

OK. let me tell you hoqw frustrating this latest Marcus Vick thing is. See, he got arressted in Suffolk Virginia. This is about 20 minutes from where I live. The local news did nothing but keep cutting to some guy standing outside the local macdonalds so they could give updates, which means they would say the same exact thing over and over again and then end it by telling the camera all of the things Marcus Vick has gotten into trouble for before. I am so sick of Marcus Vick. He is a moron and it is silly because he will most likely end up making it to the pros, 11 college level games or not, and that makes me irritated.

Also, the real funny part is that he took a girl on a "date" to that macdonalds. Also, the people he pulled his gun on were, allegedly, highschool kids that were mocking him for all the shit that got him in trouble. That's funny. The big superstar has to pull out a 9mm in order to show them highschool kids who's boss. Of course, he was probably with an underage girl too.

Good riddance to this scumfucker, but I'm prepared for the travesty that will be his pro drafting. If the pros don't pick him up my faith in professional sports may be partially restored.

He'll impress at the combines, and get drafted. If somebody is stupid enough to draft a lesser talent Clarret, somebody will draft this dick.

i don't know much about Michael, but it seems to me like he's a class act, or at least knows how to keep his name out of the papers. He must want to kill his brother.

Cuz he uses an alias. Paging Mr. Mexico, Mr. Mexico please pick up the white courtesy phone, but use an alcohol swap when you're done.

He's a thug, but other than the "Ron Mexico" incident, he's kept himself out of the papers. His posse is apparently real street and apparently does cool things like walking out of expensive restaruants without paying. One of them was also arrested at the airport with a gun.

I mean, these dudes are like AI----great athletes, but they come from these wild ass neighborhoods in places like Roanoke, Lynchburg, and VA Beach and insist on bringing the boys from back home along with them.

it's hard to turn your back on your friends.
particularly from a culture where leaving the ghetto is the least cool thing you can possibly do.

While we're on the subject: I hope that if Marcus does get drafted, it's by a West Coast team or better yet, the CFL----the less time he is around Mike IMHO, the better.

I remember going through there as a kid and it seemed real getto.....Though compared to some of the other hotbeds, y'all got up there, i guess it is pretty tame.
