Oh, sony. You silly, silly gooses.

Anyways, this was on a bunch of news sites, but my favourite article has to be from Playlouder.com:

GAY LOUDER
Sony start record label for gays and lesbians...
11 Jan 2006

Apparently - according to reports - Sony/BMG are launching the first ever major label dedicated to signing gay and lesbian acts.

To be more precise, the label will be dedicated to nurturing lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gendered artists. Hmmm.

The label - Music with a Twist - is a joint venture with Wilderness Media & Entertainment, who are launching a new telly channel - LOGO. Head Matt Farber said the time was now right to launch such a venture: "Only now are media and entertainment brands being created for the gay and lesbian audience following the success of brands for other minorities."

I'd really like to sign this amazing band I just saw but they're a bit, you know, hetero... -TALK!

Awesome. Now the religious right is going to call for boycotts against Sony, too.

About time. Gay people have too long been kept away from signing their lives away to the recording industry.

I thought gay people already had a label. And I thought they didn't like being labelled.

Maybe Extra Fancy can reform and they can be their first signing.

Unfortunately, I can't claim to not like Erasure. Granted they can be unbearably twee and Rupaul-ish sometimes. I can see why people don't like them. But I think they've written some good pop songs. If someone would redo them in a more organic, less melodramatic style, I think people would see that.
