not that I think it's worth the attention it's getting, but the whole "I don't remember this creepy organization I used to belong to even though I listed it on a job application 20 years later” thing is utter bullshit.

The Vanguard “computer glitch” thing is also utter bullplop.

Obviously they’re not going to stop him from passing this round, and Dave’s right that it shouldn’t be a comparison to O’Connor, and that it’s pointless to do so, but damned if Bush isn’t nominating the youngest, extremist dudes ever.

I like how Hilary is like the token liberal, though. Shit the liberals I’d prefer over her in office could just about fill the grand canyon.

If we ever got a true liberal in office, he better be nominating an unborn Nader/Arundhati Roy clone or some shit.

Yeah, some of that stuff would not be tolerated if he were a Democrat

And Hil ain't the token Liberal, or even a liberal...BUT she will have 80Mill leftover from her Senate campaign to run for president. So, she is you Dem nominee pretty much.

Sure,if she runs, I think she's the nom. If not, next time I make it to Chitown, I'll buy you a Guinness, and if she is, next time y'all tour somewhere I am, I get guest listed.

I may WORK for Warner, or Clark, but my money's on her.

If you say Feingold the bet is off

what's your over under on the likelyhood of Warner really running? i think that it's a definite but i've heard some people around here laugh it off as a zero-chance possibility.

I saw his speaking engagement in New Hampshire on C-Span a few months ago. He's in.

He probably has some date rape accusations in his past.

You and I have already discussed why I don't think she'll go so I won't rehash it here, but money aside, I think she knows full-well what she can carry in a national election and it ain't nearly enough to win. She may be ambitious but she's not stupid.

And now I'm about to blow my own argument out of the water, but...

What if she knows full well she can't win the White House and runs anyways just to increase her profile and be the rallying point. Could add to my theory of her becoming the new Ted Kennedy in that she'll be the new "liberal" firebrand in the Senate, where her real power is and will always be.

Shit. I hadn't considered that angle.

She may "know" she can't win...but that never stopped anyone from trying.

Yeah, remember the theory that Bush 1 "threw" the '92 election because they figured Clinton would make such a mess of things that he would never get reelected and doom the party to never win another presidential election?

1 out of 2 I suppose though it wasnt Bill who doomed the party. They've made a fine mess of it on their own.

There's always this received opinion that being a failed presidential candidate somehow gives you special status in the party. It doesn't happen. Kerry? Gore? Dole? Dukakis? Mondale?

But remember harry, these guys were right and those big, bad 'conservatives' who got millions more votes were just wrong. And mean.
