What are some music that you listen to that you normaly wouldn't admit on obner? Recently I have been listening to a lot of Blink 182, NoFX, and Everclear which aren't exactly very hip or indie.

I've got a Petula Clark greatest hits CD, but I'm not embarrased to admit it. I'm not even gay.

I think "ashamed" pretty much covers that.

nah. i'm still not.
i'm just open-minded and non-judgemental.
you like what you like. i'll like what i like.

it's not like any of that stuff 'blows my mind' or anything.
but, there's a time and place for everything..... the same
goes for music.

I try not to make up excuses or hide anything I listen to. The ones that get that the biggest bewildering looks from friends when they're browsing my collection, though, are:

-Emma Bunton
-Mandy Moore
-Destiny's Child

i'll echo the "i don't like referring to anything i like as a guilty pleasure" sentiment, but i'll play and throw out some names that are typical of these threads:

rachel stevens
sugababes
girls aloud
robbie williams

In honor of the (recovering?) hipsters in the ONION av club, except, prolly, for those jackasses Keith Phipps and Kyle Ryan, I will acknowledge my enjoyment of the ONION's Least Essential Album of 2005:

t.A.t.U. - Dangerous and Moving.

It doesn't embarass me to listen to it, but I'm sure that if they knew, they'd go snark raving mad.

I would totally tell you guys but that'd SO ruin my INDIE CRED!

+1 scene point.

I'm not PMSing, therefore I have no excuse for being an asshole.

Just saying. Stop worrying about how indie you look because that's a dumb label anyways and just listen to whatever the hell makes you happy.

Polka, I think very few of us actually spending time worrying about that. "Guilty Pleasure" is a catch-all phrase. For some it means music you know is dumb but you like it anyway. For others it means other music that those who agree with what you usually like would laugh at you for liking.

Anyone who actually worries about it probably worries about a hell of a lot of other stuff, too.

A lot of pop music is like fast food, put together and crafted without much thought for instant enjoyment. That being said, everyone knows that fast food isn't good for you, but I completely admit to liking some of it. Mainly older stuff like the McRib (80s) or the Arch Deluxe (90s).

Not ashamed, but some of you may not "approve" of my liking:
Hanson
Culture Club
Iron Maiden
solo Ozzy Osbourne
some Wham and George Michael singles

And, of course, listening to my own album is a bit like masturbating... there is some guilt, but it still feels good.
