Early last year, I was exposed to a band whose sound had captivated me. I could not get enough of them. Their songs were haunting and mesmerizing, and I counted the days as to when they would finally make an appearance in the US. My wishes were fulfilled last night in a teeny tiny venue in San Diego. What I didn't know was that my opinion of this band would be blown out of the water.

They were loud. The vocals perfect. The energy equalled their guitar playing -- in your face, fuck me licks. I nearly lost it when they played "You Are Fading" -- an aurgasm to my very being. I've not walked out of a set like that in a long ass time, feeling as I've just had my brain explode in a million tiny orgasms.

My only complaint? It was a short set. But, there's hope! I'm seeing them again tonight at Spaceland. For free, no less!

Here's the setlist and a few photos I'd like to share:

Lights
Bullets
Blood
Fall
All Sparks
You Are Fading
Camera
Munich
Fingers

If you're anywhere near LA, do yourself a huge favour and go see them. It's for free, goddammit!!

Sounds awesome, T. I'm spinning this today for sure.

And Happy Birthday too! (it's today isn't it...)

Ohhh, Charlie, you would've loved them.

And, yup, it's today -- thanks! ;)

I saw one show at The Casbah -- 7 years ago: Cornelius.
Still one of the best shows I've seen.
And it is a great little venue. reminds me of the sadly departed Lounge Ax.

I'm in the UK at the moment, and just heard "Munich," the new single on one of the many music video channels here. It is a fantastic track; I simply could not help but rush out and buy their full-length album, The Back Room because of it.

So, it's funny that you put this thread up, because I was going to say: "Tell Me About Editors."

Thanks!

Yes, I'm in the UK (Crewe, to be exact), visiting an absolutely incredible friend of mine, Anne. :)

No, no shows. There weren't any good ones scheduled for the weekend over in Manchester (about an hour away).

I'll be home on Wednesday.

:(

The Casbah is the only place here that I like to go see bands.

Oh shit, don't tell me Rian didn't make it in? I am SOOOO glad you got there when you did. I looked for you after the show and couldn't find you. Did you leave straight away?

Tonight's show was equally amazing as last night's. Though, I have to admit, LA's audience was a lot more into the music than San Diego's. The Cribs were in attendance and in chatting with the Editor boys afterwards, I was informed that Tom Vek was also supposed to be there. Unfortunately, we never saw him. Doesn't matter, it was all about The Editors tonight. Received birthday wishes all around from them -- even signed my CD with nice birthday messages. Very sweet!

If you get to see them in a town near you soon, they're partial to Mexican beer. They'll become your best friend if you hook 'em up! ;)
