Oh, how I wish I could have been Ben Gibbard for that split second in the end. ;)

When did SNL start broadcasting in high definition?

I thought the sketch with the obnoxious guy shopping for an engagement ring was hilarious. That definitely has recurring character potential. I was also mildly amused by Smorgasbord.

I totally understand the animal lust for Scarlett - the girl is at the very height of her gorgeousness - but she can't act worth spit. She can do doe-eyed confusion, or doe-eyed hurt, or doe-eyed love, but they're all the same look based in the director's command to "just stand there and look purty." I guess that's enough.

DCFC reminded me why I don't have any of their albums.

It's talent too, not just one of her gifts!

I think!

Ben Gibbard just might have the weakest singing voice ever to perform on SNL. It's as if he was whispering through those two songs.

Does anyone ever watch Mad TV instead, or even flip over while SNL is sucking? I have caught some lol sketches on there moreso than SNL has done of late.

Well, Mad TV has two things that SNL sort of lacks right now.

1. Good writers
2. Good actors

SNL skits don't seem to consist of material that requires "spot on" acting ability. It almost seems as if they should be done with half assed acting. The problem is the shitty material as far as I can tell. I'm sure I smirked a few times watching those skits, but nothing really made me laugh out loud.

As far as the earlier comment about Scarlett not being able to act worth spit....eh...I disagree. But I don't really have a way of arguing about it aside from citing examples from her movies or something. So, it'll be my little secret I guess.

They played at the end of some show (I think it might've been Last Call) and I kept laughing at how bad his voice was.

Yeah, I saw the first song and wanted to see what that dudes voice sounded like live since it is pretty unique (whiny, but unique) on their recordings.....wow, not very impressive. somebody needs to tell that bass player to lay off the crystal meth as well.

btw, I though Weekend Update usually comes on before midnight. WTF? do they show it later now?

It seemed like he really lost it on the high notes. I've heard him sing that song much better live. Off night?

I forgave the voice, in my typical fashion (when I like a band a lot). It was weak, but he was trying, and dammit there's a precious short supply of indie rockers who are willing to look like they give a shit anymore. Everybody's too damn concerned about capturing that exact blend of apathy and boredom to stick their ass out in the wind.

The playing was very, very good. The sound of the band was great... sounded like what I wished they would sound like live. Ben didn't have a motor in the back of his Honda, but that came nowhere near to ruining it for me. Crooked Teeth is my favorite on the album. If only my wife's drunken cousin would've shut the fuck up about McDonalds "marketing to black people" so I could've enjoyed it in peace.
