There's a quote for review blurbs. I'll call Spin.

Polka, I think very few of us actually spending time worrying about that. "Guilty Pleasure" is a catch-all phrase. For some it means music you know is dumb but you like it anyway. For others it means other music that those who agree with what you usually like would laugh at you for liking.

Anyone who actually worries about it probably worries about a hell of a lot of other stuff, too.

the person who started this thread was talking about it. therefore that is why I said that.

"which aren't exactly very hip or indie."

I just don't think it should matter, is all.

Okay, how about this -- artists that I am mostly to receive crap about from my friends for liking:

Vitamin C
Pink
Kylie Minogue
T.A.T.U.
...and, as much as I hate her, I even have one or two Madonna albums. And no, I won't even pretend it's because I DJ -- I have two of her more cool collaborators -- the one with William Orbit, and the one before that. I even like the most recent one.

i'm just saying nobody believes that you're so secure. they're guilty pleasures - just answer the question and stop trying to convince people you don't care what anyone thinks.

Erasure - I like about half of their catalogue. I can't stand most of their first album though.

Britney Spears - "Baby One More Time," "Slave 4 U," and "Toxic" are good pop singles.

Madonna - "Holiday," "Material Girl," "Like a Prayer," "Erotica," "Ray of Light," "Beautiful Stranger," "Hung Up," just a lot of cool timeless singles.

Tears for Fears - I pretty much like everything they've done (except for maybe half of RATKOS). I even like Roland's solo album. Never got into Curt's solo related stuff (Mayfield, etc.)

t.A.T.u. - I'm not really into them in a big way but I do really like the song "Friend or Foe" from the new album. And they got Sting to play bass too.

Pyromania still gets REGULAR play from me. Quite possibly the album I've heard the most times through in my life. I may go 7 or 8 months without hearing it, but it always comes back up.

Bring over some budweiser reds and it's on.

I regularly play "Back in Black", "Highway to Hell", and "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" albums.

Then again I'm unapologetically a fan.............and I like to drink heavily.

You seem like a good..no, great man.

Those three albums and a bunch of beer are just about the best combo ever.

Derris will get as JAIL as you wanna get. To me the Bells on Hells Bells have nothing to do with Trevor Hoffman, and everything to do with closing The Roadhouse.

"Shoot to Thrill" is another personal anthem

My guilty pleasures are more movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Drive Me Crazy, and the until-recently-overlooked Mean Girls.

in that vein, i heard some carrie underwood songs in my sister's car over the holidays and thought one or two were alright. and i am ashamed to say that, so i am guilty.

(shrug) Don't really care what you believe. Or anyone else that wants to "call bullshit" (so: nothing personal). Feel free to ask around at RaveRecs -- I am truly shameless. Or ask Davey or Snowbunny or Tentoze or Ex-Lion Tamer or anyone else that came from over there...

Right now, The Veronicas.

Girl (twin sisters!) power pop-ish band from Australia. Some say it sounds alot like Avril Lavigne but I would compare them to Nina Gordon.
