anyway i am a huge fan...here is some news...

The band will enter the studio in the middle of February and spend six weeks recording the full length. The band hopes to release the record through Saddle Creek in late August/early September of this year.

if you haven't heard of this band yet...check out domestica (my fav) and ugly organ

I don't like The Ugly Organ at all, and that recent singles compilation is horrendous, but Domestica and the last EP they put out are both solid. I'll give this a listen when it comes out.

I'm wondering how their songs are going to sound now that they don't have a cello player? I thought they said they had no plans to replace her.

Well, "singles" in the sense of various 7-inches and one-offs versus a compilation of "their biggest hits."

It was that split with Eastern Youth that I really like, not Burst and Bloom (as I originally thought).

Hopefully they'll ditch the crappy lyrics and circus keyboard sounds that ruined The Ugly Organ.

I think the circus keyboards are the only reason I liked The Ugly Organ. Everything else (not much) I've heard by Cursive I've considered to be unlistenable.

Well then, I challenge you to a knife fight. Obviously we can't have different opinions.

Hmm. I really only like Burst & Bloom. I have both Domestica and The Ugly Organ and they don't really do anything for me. The Good Life, on the other hand...

You think their second album was their best? I like the first one the best, but the second is good too. The third has some good moments, but isn't as good overall.

Yeah, but I only have a (now missing in action) burned copy. They put on a good life show when I saw them, too, unlike the disasterous performance from Cursive that I saw when Burst & Bloom came out.

I've only seen Cursive play an in-store. I saw The Good Life open for Bright Eyes back in 2002 (pre-Lifted) and they totally stole the show.

As the resident Nebraska scene person, they have no plans to replace Greta Cohen and in most people's opinion around here they nearly broke up for good. I also prefer The Good Life to Cursive, and prefer to see them live.
According to my latest email from Saddle Creek, they are already working on the album as is Now, It's Overhead.
They did some two buck benefit shows in November and I think they plan on doing one more before the album is released.

I really like the Ugly Organ, but I've never heard Domestica. So I have not reference point.

ditto. imho i thought they started sucking when the cello was added. maybe it's just a cooincidence but i love domestica, burst and bloom is ok, and i listened to the ugly organ a couple times and ditched it. this is, of course, just my opinion. . .

How can anyone not like Domestica? That's a solid album.
