I'm only worried if we can't lock him up to a long term deal, but with Smoltz moving back to the starting lineup, we should be solid---except that right now Andruw Jones is our only outfielder.....Fuck it. And fuck you Mets, we'll see who has a bigger impact in the next 4 years, Hudson or Pedro.

I'm with you dude. I think this is awesome. As soon as I heard it on ESPN I went to 790 online to listen to Domino talk about it. Yea, fuck Pedro and the big bag of money that he rode in on.

Odds of Smoltz making 30 starts in 2005: very small

Good move for the Braves. Good move for A's as well. Win-Win

All this and Beltre to the Mariners... what is Carlos Beltran thinking right about now?

I think the correct thing to say is "All this and Beltre to the Mariners... what is DePodesta thinking right now?

As of Monday, Hudson was coming here (Dodgers) for Edwin Jackson and a good 2B prospect whose development in the bigs was going to be blocked by Cora, Izturez, and/or Jeff Kent. Now, today, we lose our power guy AND our chance at a staff ace??

The best thing coming out Dodgertown today is the proposed 3 way in which we trade Shawn Green and prospects for Vasquez, and that doesn't even sound all that great...

FUCK YEAH!

I can't believe they actually pulled the trigger on this. Hudson is solid as hell. Smoltz, Hudson, and Mike Hampton ain't a bad start.

Smoltz will be money despite what you say shmoo. You can't teach heart sir.

15 million in stadium renovations plus this.....they have done something I didn't think was possible..................think about baseball in December.

With Pavano a Yank, and Hudson a Brave, does this make for Burnett (the Marlin, not the Pirate) a Red Sock?

I'm glad Hudson and Beltre didn't end up in L.A. Finley either.

I feel bad for the A's and their fans:

"This sucks,'' Hudson said by phone Thursday evening, his voice cracking with emotion. "It just sucks. Obviously, the worst part is not being with those guys anymore. Right now, I'm sort of overwhelmed. I don't know what to think, I'm just trying to get my bearings.''

Hudson's departure hit his teammates as hard as it did him, leaving some quite upset, especially on a day when AL West rival Seattle was adding slugger Adrian Beltre.

"This is disappointing, because Tim has been the backbone of this team,'' A's starter Mark Mulder said. "Watching what the other AL West teams are doing, it's definitely disappointing. Every other team has been improving themselves. This sucks, for lack of a better word.''

"It really feels like we're getting the short end of the stick right now,'' third baseman Eric Chavez said. "And other teams are making big splashes.''

"It's a sad day in Oakland,'' outfielder Eric Byrnes said. "This possibly could be our biggest loss. I know we lost Jason Giambi and Miguel Tejada before, but Hudson, in a way, was the heart and soul of the Oakland A's.''

Beane wasn't happy to trade Hudson either, calling it the "most difficult phone call I've ever had with a player,'' but the move was an economic one.

Eric Byrnes, what are you? Some kind of faggot or something?

I mean, if you love Huddy that much, why don't you just marry 'im?

By "some douchebag", I mean Eric Byrnes, since he said it.

Schuerholz proves to be Baseball's best again how you like this rotation;

Tim Hudson
John Smoltz
Haracio Ramirez
Mike Hampton
John Thompson

Looks like 5 15 game winners for the Braves and another year on the outside looking in for the rest of the NL East

I disagree. There are too many question marks. Smoltz health, arm strength, and stamina are all going to be tested. Hitters have now seen Ramirez and may handle him better in the coming year. Hampton is so inconsistent you never know what you're getting from start to start. Thompson is servicable and actually a very solid 4-5.

I do think this move was great. Hudson has been a thorn in the Mariners side for too long.

As a Phillies fan, I don't mind this trade so much if you consider this:

Thome destroys Hudson. Granted, it's only 13 career ABs, but:

7 for 13, with 4 HRs.
BA: .538
OBP: .625
SLG: 1.538
OPS: 2.163

I think Atlanta has the third largest gay population in the US (behind San Fran and NYC). No actual data to back this up. Heard it 'round the way.

Even when Zito was winning the Cy Young a couple of years ago, he was hands down the guy with the best stuff on the A's. The Braves snared one of the Top 3 pitchers in all of baseball.

He going to probably the best pitching coach in baseball too. Leo Mazzone makes bad pitchers good and good pitchers great.

Suck for the A's though. I thought they were on the verge of being like the 90's Braves when we had Smoltz, Glavine, and Maddux every year.

How do you break up Mulder, Hudson, and Zito?
