I don't know if this band gets much love here, as I wasn't around when their last album dropped, but much to my pleasure, the YYY's announced a few dates yesterday or sunday or something. Apparently, the shows went on sale yesterday at noon, and it sold out immediately (and before I had the chance to get tickets). So i go on craigslist to see how bad the damage is, and it seems (judging from the number of entries) that many tickets for this show were bought by brokers, and they are now trying to charge $300 for a pair. fuck.

i really want to see one of these shows, i don't know when i'll have the chance to see them in a smaller venue again (they're playing the bowery ballroom). thoughts?
and i refuse to pay $300 for ticket....

I'm not sure I would even pay $300 to watch the Yeah Yeah Yeahs re-enact that infamous Great White show on PPV. Two-fifty, maybe, but only if there's commentary and morgue shots afterwards.

too much for them. other bands, such as a Pink Floyd reunion in a small venue....ok, but not them.

300 DOLLARS? Hell fucking no. That's how much i'd pay for Tom Waits. Nobody else would get that sort of money out of me.

I know you said you wouldn't pay 300.. but I mean, if you want to see them what other option is there? I think that it's a bad idea to pay that much though, unless they're your favorite band in the world and you'd die without seeing them.

here's a reality check for you - you won't pay $300 for a ticket to see the YYY's....and no one else will either. The prices will come down. Hell, you could probably get in for twice face (at the most) if you just stood around the friggin' venue night of.

obviously, $300 is excessive. i'm venting for moral support, and alternative ideas. ideally, someone will reply with something like:
"oh, i happen to have two spare tickets i'll sell you at face"
or
"oh, i'm tight with the band and i'll put you on the guestlist"
or
"fuck, this is obviously ticketmaster's fault. goddamn them!"
(this was actually ticketweb, but ticketmaster bought them out)...

this is sound advice. however, my friends (typical new yorkers that they are), are fickle, and if i cannot offer them certainty that they will get into the show, i will have to go alone. i guess the moral of the story is, i need new show buddies.

this is all assuming the guitarist doesn't starve to death by the show, right?

For three bills, they'd have to agree to play in my back yard, and give me enough advance notice to dig tiger traps.

have you picked up nick zinner's new book "i hope you are happy now?" it's a collection of photography nick's taken over the past few years from tours, it's pretty interesting.

At that price, fuck it...only a select few shows are worth that price and I highly doubt the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are/ever will be worth that much

he took pictures of everything from on tour: shots of the crowd, random pictures of the city, the hotels, tour buses, pretty much everything and anything that happened while on tour.
