I've already heard several albums from 2006 that would replace albums in my top 10 from 2005, and it's only January 17. Looking like a great year on the way. I'm verklempt.

Ditto. The only 2006 album I've heard is the PA Pilots' album. Looking forward to the new Belle & Sebastian, Liars, etc.

In addition, the Nina Simone reissues look like must-haves in my opinion.

From what I've heard of the new Liars album, it sucks.

My first acquiring was East River Pipe's new one. Once again I like it a lot. And once again I think would you get a real fucking drummer already and stop with the casio-sounding crud?

That would suck. It's one of my most anticipated albums of the year. Fuckers.

Strokes album was my #1 as soon as I heard it. Better than all the choices for '05

Oh yeah, I did listen to the Strokes album (forgot about that one) even though I didn't buy it. I wasn't too crazy about it.

I've only really heard the first 3 songs and it seemed like an even bigger step away from their first album than their 2nd was. Kind of droney and not much in the way of vocals. Also, I should note that I hated their 2nd album the first time I heard it and then it made it onto my year end list after a few more listens.

I liked the 2nd album better than the 1st so hopefully I like the new one. I like their droney stuff so let's hope...

Thanks to you, I've heard these and enjoy them quite a lot. I'm looking forward to hearing the i love you but i've chosen darkness album. That Strokes album keeps getting better and better for me. I've listened to it ever single morning since the official release day. I think I may even like it better than Is This It?

Yeah, 2006 looks good. Just looking at the release calendar is already getting me excited for February and March, which didn't happen at all last year. Hopefully the releases will live up to my anticipation.

I'm really enjoying these three quite a bit as well.

I'm also gonna throw out there that the new Belle & Sebastian is KICKING MY ASS. So good. I think it's their best yet.

There is also a DBT record coming out soon. *rubs hands together* Hells yeah.

Damn I forgot about B&S. Also a great 2006, although I need to spin a few more times I think.

While I'm interested in hearing some of the ones mentioned, esp. Campbell/Lanegan, I'm gonna hazard a guess that this blows all of them away:

If there's a couple more new ones as good as this, I'm going to be very pleased indeed with this year.

The Delays was another good one, actually. Recommend it.
