I don't "like" people, sure. And I do sneak off at gatherings and go do anything else sometimes, but only if there's nothing worth a shit going on. I guess I mean to say that I never give it the old college try.

But jesus, people, do what ever it takes, and get outside. Talk to someone on the sidewalk. Help an old lady across the street. And rodney, my wife shares your aversion to making her own phone calls. I am now closer to her aunt here in town than she is. Please don't do this to your spouse, not that I don't like her aunt. It gets old. Do your own work.

I'm not scared of the phone, unless I am at work and I have to call some poor 81 year old woman and tell her she can't have her mutual fund money that she requested for "this" or "that" pressing issue because she got a notary public instead of a signature guarantee stamp.

I talk an awful lot and I can talk in front of a lot of people as long as they aren't really paying attention to me.. but when I have to do a presentation or something I can't make eye contact with anyone or else I lose what I am saying and I blush and get nervous.
I love to talk though. I don't like talking on the phone much besides when it comes to bluemilk.
Like stated before, if I saw a therapist it'd be for different things.

Nope. Never had a problem.

Dude, you always gotta make yourself feel like you're the shit, you know. You're the biggest baddest guy around. It does a lot to your ego. It boosts it, as well as your self-esteem.

I'd rather stay a social misfit than go around acting like a badass. There's already too many assholes like that as it is, especially on the roads. Besides, my faith precludes me from doing that. Learning humility has done a lot towards bringing joy into my life.

Seriously, what does that mean. I understand humiliation and I'm pretty sure its not a good thing. So why does humility bring joy into your life and how do you learn it?[/i]

It's the sociopaths wandering around messing with peoples heads who cause a lot of discomfort for the less aggressive/less manipulative.

You can act all the badass you want, but that won't get you very far with people who thrive on stirring the pot and fucking with heads/workplaces, etc. It just serves as a challenge for them to ply their compassionless weirdness a little more thoroughly.

I ignore and tune out lots of people. It's not a matter of being maladusted as one of not being willing to inhabit their fucked up headspace.

Humbleness is very different than humilition.

The Humble Man doesn't call attention to his massive penis. The Humiliated Man pays people to stick needles in it.

Yeah, I thought he might mean being humble, but he specifically said humility. I think its a religious term.

Do you think that woman used 333 acupunture needles or regular sewing type needles? And I would think he would have to have a hard-on to find room for all 333? I'm as tolerant as the next person, but that's just sick!

Yeah I read about Ol' Larry W. in Rolling Stone the other day.

My question would be how can Ilsa Strix have any respect for any of these men? If my wife wanted me to humiliate her (like that would ever happen), I'd have filed for divorce years ago.

From dictionary.com:

hu·mil·i·ty n. The quality or condition of being humble.

It's very hard to explain how it brings me joy, but trust me when I say it has.

I've sought this type of demeanor for many years and have only managed "fairly nice." You can't be Jesus with a Peter ego.

If public speaking falls under "social anxiety" then I definitely suffer from it. Doesn't matter how much I prepare or practice beforehand and whether I know the material I'm presenting better than most, if I have to do a presentation, I still get the cold sweats and nothing flows smoothly. Being an orater as nothing to do with intelligence.

Not many people are great, or even good at public speaking. Bail Claynton himself wasn't out ther giving massive stemwinders of the MLK sort. Hell, Reagan wasn't that great a public speaker...but he gave great sound bite.

But being afraid of the phone, or leaving stores and shit cos you're nervous -- seek help!!

Interesting. So different from

Humiliation

1. The act of humiliating; degradation.
2. The state of being humiliated or disgraced; shame.
3. A humiliating condition or circumstance

Does anyone know what the root word means? Humil? Or what?

O Lord its hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way!

humble (adj.)
c.1250, from O.Fr. humble, earlier humele, from L. humilis "lowly, humble," lit. "on the ground," from humus "earth." Senses of "not self-asserting" and "of low birth or rank" were both in M.E. The verb is c.1380 in the intrans. sense of "to render oneself humble;" 1484 in the trans. sense of "to lower (someone) in dignity."

To eat humble pie (1830) is from umble pie (1648), pie made from umbles "edible inner parts of an animal" (especially deer), considered a low-class food. The similar sense of similar-sounding words (the "h" of humble was not pronounced then) converged in the pun. Umbles, meanwhile, is M.E. numbles "offal" (with loss of n- through assimilation into preceding article), from O.Fr. nombles "loin, fillet," from L. lumulus, dim. of lumbus "loin."

humiliation
c.1386, from O.Fr. humiliation, from L.L. humiliationem (nom. humiliatio) "humbling, humiliation," from L. humiliare "to humble," from humilis "humble." Humiliate is c.1533, a back-formation of this.

humility
c.1315, from O.Fr. humilité, from L. humilitatem (nom. humilitas) "lowness, insignificance," in Church L. "meekness," from humilis "humble."
