My female friends in relationships are all with guys a couple of years older than them, at least.

And over the past few months, the only girls interested in me have been four to five years my junior.

Seconded. And, I have always ended up attracted to dolls two or three years my junior... Sort of a preemptive strike.

I think it varies, but it is a pretty common phenomenon. Other than the 'history' aspect of it, it also has to do with general maturity levels. I am 25, and I have noticed that lots of 24/25 year old guys are still immature in many ways. And just from watching others around me, it seems that most 22-26 year old women are more mentally mature than guys of the same age range. Especially in this town, where it seems all 25 year old guys are going through some sort of complex, and where 30-40 year old townie guys still go out every night and are always hanging out with their 20-30 year old friends.

First of all, how old are you? Once we determine your age, I'll give you an experienced answer.

You had to put that "more stable" clause in there, didn't you?

Btw, I prefer younger guys. Always have. Though, I have to concur with Tiny, most guys in their early to mid 20's are immature. And, sorry to say, a lot of girls in their early 20's are equally as immature.

If you ask me, I feel that period of time should not be meant for long-term relationships.

Absolutely, I've seen way too many friends marry in their 20's and get divorced by the time they're 30. I don't think people have their personalities sorted out before then.

May be some "older = more $$$" logic going on as well.

Commonly accepted thought is what has been stated here already- men a few years older than women.

In my case, I ain't had a date since Nam.

I think it varies, but it always seemed to me that gals seemed appreciate the older guys more. I think coin may be one reason, but confidence is likely the true reason.

i voted that i thought it varies.
but after thinking about it a little more....
i'd probably say that i'd agree with the 'older' statement.
but just a little bit older. not a lot.

I voted "varies".

BUT, like Aural I've always preferred them younger then me. I swear this is even dating back to high school. I always seemed to date the boys a year younger.

I tried twice to date someone several years older but it never worked out. I thought they were dicks.

Josh is 8 yrs younger then me and it works. We often don't even notice the age difference(unless I'm walking around being mopey and tell him that I AM older then him and will therefore be old and gray before him to which he responds "hush").

My husband is more mature then most of the idiots my own age I'd come across the last few years. Oddly enough it's been the younger men who were most interested in some form of "comittment" then the older/my age.

Yeah it varies. My wife's certainly more attracted to mature men than to snot-wipers. But before we met I'd dated women from 18 to 42. This was a span of age 17 to 26 for me, so I was both older and younger, depending on the woman.

Maybe you armchair Dr. Lauras & Dr. Phils have it backwards.

Maybe older guys prefer younger girls. At least that's what my father always told me. He ain't Tony Randall, either. My mother is only about 362 days younger than him.

I had a good female friend and former boss of mine, around fifty years of age tell me to stay way the hell away from unmarried women over 30. "Bonkers", she says. They start getting that wild-eyed desparate never gonna get married thing and turn into total kooks and psychopaths. Hyperbole? Sure. But women get plenty goofy as well.

Also, in my experience, college towns are just different places entirely.

Girls prefer assholes. Not all girls, but a whole lot of them.
