I dunno, there's so much bullshit tied into this topic that it's hard to know where to start.

I don't disagree that most guys are hiding something, and most guys who are assholes - if they know what they're doing - aren't going to project that aspect of themselves when they're trying to get laid. They probably won't come off as "mysterious" either.

I think people are generalizing a lot in this thread. Everyone is different and will have different experiences.

I find that girls also like to "change" guys or "settle" them down. And I know tons of non-shallow women, and they all like jerks for the most part. Exceptions of course.

my boyfriend is almost a year younger than me. my last boyfriend was ten years older; he was a condescending prick most of the time, and not nearly as mature as my new guy. i say it varies and depends on the person.

I generally like guys a few years older than me. In the past, I've always gotten along with them much better than guys my own age. And while I've been involved with assholes, I've always wanted "something" with the nice guy, but that hasn't really made much of a difference thus far.

oh, and i'll admit that i used to be prone to being attracted to assholes, but that is changing due to the sweetness factor of new man.

Besides, even though I'm not an asshole, even though i'm down over 50 lbs. and am kicking ass, the fact remains that it would take an EXTREMELY understanding woman to deal with me, my crazy schedule, and my music. It's not a hobby, it's more than a job, it's what I am, and a woman who thinks they're competing for my affections with my music is just gonna cause trouble.

My dog on the other hand, she's extremely understanding, and way more comforting.

that's what i did. married at 24, divorced at 28. he's six years older than i am.

i don't think anyone under 30 should marry. it works for some, but most that i know who married in their 20's are pretty crabby right now.

i used to only date older guys, between six and twelve years older. i'm involved with a 24 year old that's about ten times more mature than a 38 year old that i dated last year. maturity depends solely on the person in question.

As I've gotten older I've learned to pretty much trust my friends--and *gasp* Mother--re: boys. Although when I first met my bf some of my male friends made some obviously jealously motivated comments which was a little sad. But in the past it was like: Polly meets new guy, Polly introduces new guy to band and other misc large male friends... and then you know there ain't gonna be no messin' around from no meanies.

The star judge is my brother; if the bro isn't down with him then I know something's wrong. 'Course he likes my current bf so much that he sides with him if I ever try to get his advice on things(!) But it's all good.
