so, why is it that some artwork shows up on my ipod after I upload it, but some do not? i do everything exactly the same. it seems that on the ones that don't show up on the ipod, the upload time zips on thru, whereas with the ones that do stick, it takes a bit longer.

HELP ME GUYS PLEASE

I remember spending time getting artwork on my Ipod. Then I realized I simply didn't care

To answer your question, has to do with the way the file is encoded.

Guaranteed your answer is in one of these

I think in itunes you have to reference the image file to the mp3 in properties. I assume the file needs to be in the folder of the mp3...
I have it setup on itunes, but my ipod is too old to do artwork. :P

I gotta tell you, this is overrated. I spent hours getting artwork on each album...pretty much, every time you click to get the artwork up, LCD comes on, battery life drains...it ends up being kind of gimmicky feature that you simply don't use.

By the way, the method I used was to find the artwork in amazon.com, then simply drag and drop into Itunes once the entire album was selected.

i love the artwork popping up. and i use it at work too, s it's always charging. and i haven't had any battery issues with this thing at all.

i do the same:
save artwork from amazon or allmusic
go into the songs on my IPOD and right click - info - album art and upload it all the same.

just some work and some don't, although all seem to come up in itunes, just not on the ipod.

I've noticed this as well, the artiwork will display in the preview window in Itunes, but doesn't get loaded into the Ipod when you transfer.

The artwork is actually encoded into the .mp3 tags. I think what happens is:

You download foobar.mp3 to the Ipod
You change the album art for foobar.mp3
You resync the Ipod, but since foobar.mp3 is already there, it doesn't update it with the album art.

To correct this, I simply emptied my Ipod, and re-imported all of the tracks. This corrected a lot of my artwork problems.

Its also possible that the .mp3 file you are working with uses an old .mp3 tag header format. I'm not certain whether this causes the problem or not, as I haven't tried to correct it this way yet, but there is a 'convert id3 tags' option under the advanced menu in Itunes. Maybe converting them all to a later format (2.4?) might fix the issue. Not certain, but its worth a try.

All in all though, I'm starting to think that even though it does look nice on the Ipod, it may not be worth the hassle. Going to Amazon to find album covers gets pretty tedious after a while.

I never though about scoring pot at the Apple store. Does it work? How's the quality?

I didn't realize that he was challenging Gates for the title. But hell, sure I will, as long as he gives it to me free or at least at cost.

why should you have to do all this foobar shit? Shouldn't the iPod know what it's doing on its own?

I'm gonna take my iPod back to where i bought it because it's 'broken' for two reasons:

1. The battery doesn't last as long as the box said it would.
2. The album art is always fucked up.

I think they're both valid complaints.

Where were you the other day when I was bitching about Apple and Itunes?

Since I don't copy my music via iTunes, I use this once the tracks on the iPod and have no complaints.

Didn't you know that the iPods they sell down there are actually the ones that we return in America? So good luck if you get my old one where the "Lock" feature will just decide to engage itself whenever it damn well pleases.....
