"The Jig is Up" The 77s

Followed by "Who Let the Dogs Out"....

I figure that it won't matter what gets played at mine since probably nobody will show up for it anyway.

I want my funeral to be a New Orleans brass-band procession; at the wake the Rolling Stones and Reigning Sound will be blasted full volume. Man, I can't wait to die.

Haven't really given it much thought. I'm tempted to put on Robert Rich's Somnium. But then I realized -- I won't care. Besides, funerals are for the living.

EDIT: On second thought:

King Crimson, "Requiem"; also, "Dig Me"
"Summertime" -- don't know which version, probably Janis, but would prefer someone like Madeline Peyroux, Beth Gibbons, or Alison Moyet
don't know which rendition, but "Solvejg's Song" by Grieg
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, as sung by Eric Cartman

I'll add more as I think of them.

I've made something of a U turn on this lately. For a long time I wanted 'Blitzkreig Bop' played but now I've come to the conclusion that it just wouldn't be fitting to the occassion.

Now I want Beethoven's 'Piano Sonata No.8' to be aired, sonically reproducing the grief the world will feel at the loss of a great man.

Probably something from the Bonzo Dog Band.
maybe "Jolity Farm"
or
Mama Told Me Not To Come (the Randy Newman version)
Something to make 'em chuckle.

Barry: Top 5 songs about death. A Laura's Dad tribute list, okay? Okay. Leader of the Pack. The guy fuckin' beefs it on his motorcycle and dies, right? Dead Man's Curve. Jan & Dean.
Dick: Do you know that right after they recorded that song Jan himself crashed his car...
Barry: It was Dean you fuckin' idiot...
Rob: It was Jan. It was a long time after the song.
Barry: Okay, whatever. Tell Laura I Love Her. That would bring the house down - Laura's Mom could sing it. You know what I'd want? One Step Beyond by Madness. And, uh, You Can't Always Get What You Want.
Dick: No. Immediate disqualification because of its involvement with The Big Chill.
Barry: Oh God. You're right!
Dick: Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot.
Barry: You bastard! That's so good - that should have been mine... The night Laura's daddy died. Sha na na na na na na na na! Brother what a night it really was. Mother what a night it really... angina's tough! Glory be!

"how to disappear completely" by radiohead :P

unless that's too depressing for those putting this bash together. then i'd just play some tracks from our wedding playlist. (unless that's too depressing for my wife.)

and if radcliffe attends, i'd play "supper's ready" by genesis
