Theatre was full of numerous males such as myself sitting alone. Think serial killer convetnion.

Overall I liked it quite a lot. It had a Crimes & Misdemeanors feel about it. Very Dark. Probably Woody Allen's best work since that film. Had some laugh out loud moments as well. Scarlett Johansson was ridiculuosly hot in this movie. Before she was kinda meh! to me but in this film I can finally see the light.

I didn't like it that much. It wasn't Woody Allen's best moment.

I thought Scarlet Johansson was totally miscast. I later found out that Kate Winslet was cast as that character but later dropped out.

I'm curious. You don't think she overacted a bit? She was totally outshined by Emily Mortimer.

I thought they were both excellent. Johansson was playing the classic Allen vixen-type character and, well, I found her quite arousing.

Although I though Jonathan Rhys Myers had the really strong performance. I am saying this despite thinking he was one of the worst actors I had ever seen in Bend It Like Beckham.

This movie has been raved about for months now and I finally had a chance to see it a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed.
Perhaps it was Woody's intent to make a film that was cold & hard cuz I walked away feeling absolutely nothing.

quite arousing does not a good actor make.

i haven't seen it yet. i think she has laid some strong groudwork to becoming a decent actress as opposed to a personality or celebrity. my problem is that her handlers insist on constantly presenting her as a"glamorous" actress. she is always made up dressed like a '30's actress on her way to the oscars and she's just too young to be able to always pull it off. as soon as she opens her mouth, yeah, she's a very young 20 something.

they should tone it down a bit because that's something one grows into rather than playing dress up all of the time.

loved her in ghostworld, lost in translation and a few others i can't remember.

Did no one else here enjoy The Island? Perchance, if one did, not even for Ms Johannson, so much as it was a boffo budget, splashy action, popcorn movie that actually drew one in?

Yes but she was supposed to be an arousing character and she did that. And not simply via her looks.

I thought the movie was pretty good but I have to agree that I found SJ to be pretty unbelievable in some of the scenes (but yeah she's smoking hot).
