well the big one would be that hxxp is not a valid address.

Basically, people put hxxp if they don't want the link directly clicked, i.e. puts the onus on the person to change it, thus the original 'linker cannot be faulted.

like if someone were to link a tubgirl pic, it would be prudent to put hxxp instead of http

Sometimes you see https://, which is just a secure connection.
