I was thinking more of a little bit of the How's Your Father.

Maybe the best part:

Some non-PG caressing, and she says, "aww, that's what my Dad always did to put me to sleep." I freeze, and then we both bust out laughing HARD.

funny lady.

Careful though. A little laughter = good. Laughter at the wrong time = mood killer. And the LAST thing she oughtta be thinking about at that time is daddy.

Well, it was fucking hilarious timing, and not so much mood killing as changing the pace a little. Like I said, I'm moving slow right now myself. AND she's a very good girl, so being with me (knowing I'm going through this divorce) is bound to be more than a little strange for her, too.

I like people who can make me laugh.

I think I need to start acting more of a whore.

Well, the point was that I'm going to let getting some strange come at its own pace - I just am thankful for how much fun I've had this week - I'm feeling better about myself than I have in a lloonngg time. I think with how things were betweeen me and my ex, it's been a long time since I felt really attractive and desirable and wanted, and even having a fairly innocent fling with a good friend is just a really great thing to have right now.

Though I did MEAN like I said it, the same goes for the possibility of some as well. There is nothing wrong with feeling the pimp you are Chuck. Go on and brush your shoulders off!

I think that this whole singlehood thing may have some potential. Best part of this weekend for me is that my friend is driving back to Dallas and we're still as tight as we were before. Nice not to have made anything awkward.

As she said: "Best. Conference. Ever."

Sounds like a good thing, Chuck(e)D. Just take your time and have lots of fun before you get serious again.

I know exactly what Aural meant when she said she needed to be more of a whore. Two weeks after a collegue's wife died from cancer, the single women were already swarming around him. He was very lonely and grief-stricken and yet he immediately dove into a long-term relationship without doing any of the work needed to heal. He and his new girlfriend celebrate their relationship anniversary two weeks after the anniversary of his wife of twenty-five year's death. Ick.

If someone really like you for being you, they won't go away if it takes you some time to develop new bonds.

This year seems to be the year of the long-term marriage's demise. A good friend's wife left him broken-hearted and moved right in with another man (and his two kids) and he was so lonely that he immediately got on an on-line dating website and hooked up with a lady who he is pressuring to move to his town because he doesn't want to be alone!

Is it any wonder that second marriages have such a high rate of failure?

Oh, and another friend's wife left him just before Christmas. Already with someone else and he's going to men's group type counselling, taking up running, formed a new band and is working on himself. Yay Brad!

Anyway, what I meant to say was enjoy your life. You never know what's coming around the corner!

Edit: to fix quote and say "Are you wearing eyeliner in that picture?

BlackLake -

Wise words. No, like I said, what I've been happiest about with this unexpected tryst is that it's been happening with friend who is staying a friend. I have grad school, she's got a life, and friendship is all that's going to happen. I need to get out and make friends and learn more about myself for quite a while before I think about long term relationships. My wife is the only woman I've had sex with, and I don't really have any experience with dating, so I'm like a clueless fumblebum who is realizing that he might actually have a really good time with all of this.

It's my ex who is immediately diving into a long-term relationship without doing any of the work needed to heal, she is already pressuring mutual friends to accept him as a part of the group, which means that I'm going to have time share friends, and will have to make sure that I don't wind up drunk and at a bar with my ex (she still hasn't handed over the divorce papers, for chrissakes!) and her fuck-buddy, which would result in WAR at this point.

I'm just trying to play it slow, heal, and be a good person, be someone I can be proud of being with all of this.

Oh, and I am still going to counseling, starting with a group, starting to play soccer, forming a band and working on myself . . . yay me!
