Has anyone heard the songs of this four member union? They're supposedly releasing their first single with only 1000 copies. I'm intrigued.

Aren't they supposed to be releasing a full-length at some point this year? And isn't the remainder of this new Detroit supergroup comprised of selected members of The Greenhornes?

Hey! Katie! Do you have a copy of that Raconteurs disc around the office? No? Ok.

Sidenote and somewhat related because it involves Mr. Gillis. He and new wife Karen (Mrs. Gillis) have just brought a spread of land and I assume a house in the rolling hills Williamson Co., TN about 20min. outside of Nashville. I'm hoping for some Jack sit-ins with local alt-country celebs.

so the pitchfork quote was "jack white had done the art brut thing and formed a[nother] band"

so the real question is whether there's an art brut side project that i don't know about--beceause i'm seriously addicted to that band. . . will someone please enlighten me? thank you muchly.

According to the aforementioned website, the full length is called Broken Boy Soldiers and is slated to drop in May.

OK, I'm listening to the first track they've got streaming at their site, "Steady, As She Goes," and it is OPEN QUAL. Brendan Benson on lead vocals, with Jack White on harmonies. This. Is. Good.

The other streaming track they've got up on their site is "Store Bought Bones," which actually features more than a hint of early-'70s-heyday Deep Purple, of all things. Oddly enough, it works. I think I'm really gonna dig this album.
