You forgot shoegaze. I don't love this album, but I do like it.

I'd still like to hear Akuma No Uta, if anyone has it.

I've got that. I had no idea you didn't have it.

I can YSI it when I get home tonight.

I'm still waiting on the domestic release of Pink before I hear it. I've reached the point with Boris where I feel like I've downloaded enough, and it's time to pony up and buy some albums. Absolutego should be on its way to me in the mail now.

Thanks, that'd be great. Have you heard "Absolutego"? It's so brutal.

I haven't heard it, and I'm eagerly awaiting it's arrival.

Did you happen to get that collab from kochalka between Boris and Keiji Heino? It's really nice.

I don't think I can do a YSI tonight. My internet at home has gone to complete shit lately. I have DSL, but it's been consistently slower than dial-up for about a week. I'm pissed.

I acquired the Boris/Keiji Haino from a torrent site recently. I threw it on at work, and wouldn't describe it as "really nice", but worth a proper listen outside the office.

Don't worry about a YSI tonight. At your convenience.

Their album with Haino is actually my favorite of theirs. I think they adapted well to a more drone oriented base that he brought in, much better than most bands that work with him anyways. Regardless, I don't think they've put out a bad album.

I do have to ask though, where is this Boris love coming from? It seems like since Christmas their popularity has increased exponentially. I think more people have got Boris records from me on Sl5k than any other artist the past month. Is there some massive interest in Japanese music happening that I'm unaware of. I sure hope that's the case at least.

I only cottoned onto them with Akuma No Uta - my artist friend from another city mailed me a tape of it he got from his japanese friend, and at the same time i started hearing a little about them round the internet.

I havent picked up Pink yet and i dont want to listen to it till i buy it either - same with the new Mogwai

I bumped into a friend down the street from the city's best record store (R.I.P. Esoterik), and he told me about this bad-as-fuck drone/doom business that they were playing for him there. I headed over and the clerks were fawning over this piece calling it the best doom ever recorded. It was "Absolutego" and it came home with me.

I can only credit their recently exploded popularity to being awesome and garnering a gushing lead review on Pitchfork.

I think there's a bit of general interest developing in the doom thing as a whole. You see much more about Earth and Sunn o))) lately as well even though both of those bands have been around for a while.

Pink isn't doom, though. It's very diverse and much more enjoyable because of it, IMO.

Well, yeah, on the other hand all the recent interest in Boris could have more to do with the increased diversity and accessibility of their more recent work. I still haven't heard Pink, but Akuma No Uta is way more varied and tuneful than, say, Amplifier Worship which is much more straight doom.

The songs on "Pink" are just really overdriven near-pop rock songs. All else I've heard by Boris is no less awesome, but sometimes physically hard to take.
