so, we are celebrating my friend kevin's birthday tonight.... (a work friend)

another coworker and i decided to go together to get him a gift....
our plan was to get him a bottle of crown royal (his favorite) and a 6 pack of his favorite beer.

along with a set of nice bar glasses and shot glasses.

my coworker went to the liquor store. i was off to find the beer glasses.
i couldn't really find anything that wasn't just plain and boring.....

but i happened up on this decanter instead:

so, i got him that....
along with 4 of these:

and 2 of these shot glasses:

i'm not super excited about the color.... but it was kind of a 'last minute' decision because i was running out of time.

so, i guess i'm wondering what you guys think.....
good present? manly enough?
or not?

I'm not very manly so could be wrong, but that seems sufficiently manly to be accepted by a manly man, so long as the liquor comes with it.

The key thing being, again, "liquor included." Makes it all good.

You're definitely thinking too much about this. Bottom line is booze is the best gift for a drinking man. Since its generally only other dudes that realize this and dudes don't give each other birthday presents unless they are related, you've probably given him the best birthday present he'll receive just based on the crown royal and 6 pack.

As far as the decanter, glasses, and shot glass go, he'll either like 'em or he won't. If he doesn't like 'em, it won't be because they're too girly. Either way, it won't spoil that you gave him booze. He loves booze.

Actually, just the fact that it's a liquor decanter makes it sufficiently manly. You're fine.

Manly men would drink booze out of yellow polka dot shot glasses and not give a shit.

In fact, manly guys don't give a toss what other people think about anything.

What about drinking from this:

Definitely.

This does reek though of I'm grown up and I need to stop drinking directly from the bottle. Me likee.

Spunk-free is a concept applicable to many situations. Also, "as long as you didn't piss in it."

you're right. he didn't really care about the glassware.

i mean, he liked it.....but he didn't even unwrap all of it until we made him.

he was super excited about the beer and the crown, though.

geez. i obviously worried way too much about that.

not completely true.
but what's wrong with having enthusiasm?
it's definitely better than the alternative.
