Now THAT is a stupid fucking list.

To be fair, what's the criteria for it to be British? Recorded in Britain? British band? Bad teeth?

Yeah, that's rubbish. Keep it on ILM.

Its soooooo like NME to put the Artic Monkeys higher than the Beatles, Stones, Clash, Kinks, The Who and the Jam. I can't believe I subscribed for a year.

I don't think that I'd put Jehovahkill that high but I do love that album and never see anyone give it the credit it deserves so good for them on that one at least.

I'm sure they are. And I would break it down a little more, but I'm kinda cooking dinner here.

There are TWO albums by The Streets above the ONE album by The Stones.

That is all.

The Streets shouldnt make a list of the top 100 THOUSAND British records ever.

I'm not opening this thread anymore.

Hrm, The Arctic Monkeys are only slightly better than Revolver and London Calling. That's restraint.

It would be nerve-wracking to be a good Brit band knowing that the press is going to stroke you and build you up only to drop you 3 months later. Such a bizarre phenomenon.

Prime example of the difference between "favorite" and "greatest ever." I like a lot of those albums, but c'mon now. Ony nine from the 60's.

And who in ALL of Great Britian has "forgotten" Human League? Dare was inescapable planet-wide. How can it be a forgotten gem? That's a British equivalent of saying Born In The USA is a forgotten gem.

That is a ridiculous list, although I'll disagree with Bloor's reasons because I love those two Streets albums but ranking Strangeways Here We Come at 19 above all those others?

That's why lists are ridiculous. Everyone knows they're shit, and yet they pull you in for argument's sake. And the crazier they are, the more noise they make - and I guess magazines sold.

What? How can that be the 15th most outrageous moment in rock and roll?! VH1 is List Satan. Or at least last time I checked.

I mean, really.

And they think that an album that has been out less than a month is somehow better than 99.999% of recorded British music history? What does that say about their own music history.

Please

im not defending the arctic monkeys here.....

but 'greatest' has a lot of factors......fastest selling/biggest selling has to be one of them, and that album is one of, if not the fastest selling albums in the u.k.....

**as a side note, im always amazed at how u.s. folk are always in disgust at how low the beatles always end up on this list.....

I bet music dinks in England have Best American Albums arguments and they argue stuff like how Jolene should be higher than Blonde On Blonde

It's the one I'd pick. Which one is your best? Kind of tough to pick a real best from any of the first 4 since they are all 5 star to me, but the one I reach for most now is This Year's Model. Just so tight and explodes right from the start. Some of his most sardonic lyric turns too.

My Aim Is True is phenomenal. I'd pick Armed Forces, though. I love that album. Trust is growing on me, though, and could probably easily take over for number one. This Years Model has grown on me a lot but I had not heard that until after I listened to the bonus disc on My Aim Is True, and I liked the early versions of a lot of the songs more than I liked the ones on the actual album. Now i've grown to love both versions. I didn't mean to imply I didn't like This Years Model, because I love it... but not as much as the other albums I talked about.
I like Blood & Chocolate a lot too. Imperial Bedroom didn't strike me that much, but I probably should give it more chances. Those are all of the albums I have of his as far as I know. Maybe i'm wrong.
Armed Forces it is.

Super Furry Animals is a little high and the lack of Disintegration is appalling and aren't the Police British? If they qualify there's no excuse for their absence.

Okay list for someone trying to cater to American tastes. (Aren't Oasis hated in Britain?)
