I've heard a lot of praise for this kid for a while now, but wrote it off. As a general rule if I hear comparisons to Fahey, Jack Rose, and Steffan Basho-Junghans I assume I will be disappointed if I listen. I was wrong with this guy. This is some beautiful guitar work making his Sunshrine album the first record I have heard this year that I am truly excited about (though I think the Digitalis CD may have came out in late '05 the vinyl version is out on Bo Weavil next month I believe). Highly recommended for fans of the last two Jack Rose records.

Only heard a couple of tracks but that "no ghost" is such a sweet track.

I really like that Silvester Anfang from that gold leaf record as well.

That whole comp. is really well put together with only two maybe three tracks not being extremely good over the course of three discs. Digitalis and Foxglove are both damn near perfect it seems over the past year or so. I can't think of a single bad record that has come off that label in a long time.

I just ordered that Gown tonight from them so hopefully it will be as good as the stuff they did with Christina Carter. I thought Black Forest Black Sea sounded better without her and Gown reminds me a little of them so we'll see.

One more from the guy. This is his 34 minute contribution to a split with Davenport. (I was unaware I had this prior to looking through his discography and recognizing the cover. Had listened to the Davenport track but never his.) For those who do not wish to sit through 34 minutes highlights are around the 12:20, 15:38, and 29:20-29:32 marks.

There's some good things going on here aside from just typical raga stuff. He blends some bowed cymbal in nicely, a bit of organ/accordion something or other in the beginning that sets a nice pace. Also, I could be wrong but I believe he plays both a twelve and six string on this track. But yeah, if anyone cares...
