Why are the Stone Roses so great? I respect the Manchester sound but post punk, electronica, dub, etc. had all already been around. If someone could legitimately say they influenced My Bloody Valentine, The Cure, The Orb, Slowdive, etc. my ears might perk up a bit more but otherwise the Happy Mondays and Primal Scream (while both really good) are kinda unimpressive in the long run with only an album a peice that's truly remarkable. And I equate the Verve to "one hit wonder". I mean how many American lists do Marcy Playground show up in?
