This is a big pet peeve of mine, probably because "it's" is often used when "its" should be.

She'd laugh at my use of "for which," for instance.


True, because the correct usage would be "when" not "for which". We'd also accept "circumstances under which" or "infractions for which".

I have a pet peeve with the English language, because there technically should be anything wrong with using it's as a possessive.

I actually know the english more better than it seems. I'm just lazy. Plus I type my posts in about six seconds, sometimes less.
