Yeah, I haven't heard a note. I'm afraid they're going to sound just like the other Franz Ferdinand/Bloc Party/Kaiser Chiefs/Killers/Bravery soundalikes.

Oh no. It's like the two big movements melded into one. Half dance, new wave influenced stuff, half garage rock stuff.

I wouldn't think a British singer could pull off Jack White so well, but it just goes to show.

This is based solely on the songs "Still Take You Home" and "Perhaps Vampires...".

I think I've spun this about 3 or 4 times. I quite like it and think they're getting burned more than they deserve because of the stupid Brit press. If it's not your type of music and you don't like it, fine. But when the dislike develops into this immense vitriol, it obviously isn't about the music anymore, but the wave of hyperbole following them.

The way I feel about the Arctic Monkeys right now is exactly the same way I felt about Bloc Party at this time one year ago.

I read a lot about them and heard a lot about them and new they were being touted as "the next big thing", "best album of the year", yadda yadda yadda. And I gave a listen and said "This is it? They sound just like everybody else out there. What's the big deal?"

At which point I receive a ton of "They don't sound anything like those bands. You don't know what you're talking about. You don't know anything. Your mother wears army boots." and so on. So I say fine and wash my hands of them.

And December rolls around and nobody talks about them anymore and nobody cares.

My prediction: Arctic Monkeys don't even place in the top 10 of Shmoo poll '06.

don't like this much. this one song reminds me of a supergrass album I used to have - which I also didn't like.

You're an idiot. Bloc Party made a shitload of end of the year lists. AM will as well.

Its alright, better than most of the new music that I've heard lately. They do what they do well but its been done lots of times before and better, that said it rawks so just turn it up and don't think about it.

I don't see how my band is particularly relevant to this discussion, but OK..

EOD, you'll like your stuff, I'll probably not, you'll dislike my band, and I hopefully won't, and I have no problem with that.

i like the record.

they are doing very little press (interviews).

they don't want to blow up and become this untouchable indie apex.

hey, that's what arcade fire did.

look, they might get a grammy!

I think the lyrics and the vocal delivery(the accent) are so frigging awesome, but the songs (or the music) seem to follow a fimiliar formula which i have quickly tired of. They have huge potential to become a great band but i cannot see myself listening to this album very often.

Is this out in the States yet? I like the KCRW stuff, but all the big websites are shipping the record in Feb. Where is the actual album available?

I was wondering today if that band Brakes were on Domino, because that All Night Disco Party sounds like a Clinic b-side.

Amazingly (because I live in my own little universe) I've only heard one Artic Monkeys track ever. It was on the radio so I'd imagine it was one of the singles.

I thought it was quite good but nothing new. You can imagine why younger people might get excited about it but this grizzled veteran has heard it all before.

Not really my cup of tea. Too much dance, not enough JAIL.
